Not the cheapest as it's been I think $179.00 before.

Product description
Our Smartest Grinder. It Adjusts the Dose When You Change the Grind The perfect coffee needs a precise amount of freshly ground beans. But adjustments in grind size requires different grind times to achieve a consistent dose. Breville's conical burr Smart Grinder uses Dosing IQ technology to automatically adjust the dose whenever you change the grind. Choose between 'Cups' for French Press or Filter, and 'Shots' for Espresso, to get the right dose for your needs, whatever the grind setting. You can even tweak for taste. The smart grinder has an LCD display, 25 grind settings, 450g removable hopper, and comes with two grinding cradles for dosing directly into 50-54mm or 58mm commercial espresso filters plus an air-tight storage canister, suitable for plunger or filter coffee. You choose the grind, it'll choose the dose

    • that looks like the older model (non pro).

      • ah, I assumed it is the same with this deal

        • Yeah you are correct, it is the pro version. I ordered from that exact link and recieved a pro - BCG820BSS

Edit: Strange as it has in description that it only has 25 grind settings. My receipt has the exact title as the listing on that link, however I recieved a pro? Strange.

      • Can also confirm that the DJs model is the pro. I bought one last week for $179 and received the pro.

  • I just realised that Amazon has run out of stock. Will update

I'm after a Breville Barista Express (BES) machine - any ideas where they might be cheapest?

Keep an eye out at your local Salvos. Picked up a great little BES860 (with some extras) for $135.

    • They have all gone up in price. Current deal is not too bad considering a price hike. I highly doubt that 2019 prices will be repeated soon but who knows…

If you can get discounted gift cards then it helps out a little on the price.
I would recommend 840 or better based on reports from websites like coffeesnobs.

have you considered the Breville Bambino Plus and Smart Grinder Pro combination? The bambino heats up faster, stronger steam and with the grinder separate it gives you more flexibility.

      • Good question but I like the idea of an all in one unit more - thanks for the suggestion though

        • It'll be easier to replace/fix/upgrade separate units if anything goes wrong. But if you are hard stuck on having it combined or short on space, then can't really say since it's still a great machine.

  • How often do you owners clean your BCG800/820s? Given I've had both fail over the years with ground down plastic gears (the motor, not the impeller issue) which very few other people seem to experience I'll try following how often other people clean theirs which I'm only guessing will reduce how hard the gear gets worked from clogging up prior to getting cleaned.

how does this compare to a Baratza Encore ?

    • Ive been told that Encore is more for drip filter due to the way it grinds and breville is more for espresso. Two different grinders for different purpose.
