  • the LED light and display is BRIGHT, not good for bedroom.

Tiny bit of insulation tape over the top sorts that out… These are ok. Still far better than AC fans, and for this price, it's a great deal. At full price, look at the Xiaomi or even Kogan

    • there is a button on the remote that can be used to turn the light off

    • Rather then cover the display up, use a permanent marker to colour over it and you can reduce the brightness and it still be readable.

I tried a permanent marker on my kogan, the only problem is you can only put on one layer which wasn't dark enough.

Ended up putting on 4 layers of dark window tint (Ali for $1ish) .

  • ozbargainers like Xiaomi more 😅

  • I have never heard one of these dc fans, but I can't say that the motor noise of the AC versions has ever bothered me.

Isn't most of the noise air movement anyway, after the fan is up to speed and the induction humm is gone?

    • Yup most of the noise is air noise, but the lowest setting on an AC fan is still relatively fast. A DC fan let's you go to a much lower speed (perfect for a gentle breeze at bed time) and is silent.

That's my use case and they work well for it.

      • Oh OK I understand what the fuss is about now, thanks for that.

    • The issue I have with my PWM fan from bunnings is the sound it makes at low speed. Because it's pulsing the fan on and off to get the speed, it's a really annoying noise.

Is it similar to this one? https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-40cm-dc-pedestal-fan_p0181…
Reviews are almost all 1 star for that DC fan. Wonder if this one is too.

    • That one is "dumb" . This one is smart wifi controlled

    • Good lord….. Worst reviews for a product I've ever seen.

I hope this "smart" version is better quality. Definitely keep the receipt safe, and send a copy to your phone (from the register) for good measure.

  • Wow, hell of a price jump if you want the black ($109).

    • $4.50 for a can of spraypaint

  • I have 2 of these. They are pretty good. I did have to take 2 back as 1 wouldnt spin at all (you could hear it trying) and the other couldn't spin smoothly at the lowest settings. Whilst turning the lights off is a fine solution for me, I wish you could turn the beeps off as I have one in my 3 year olds bedroom.
