  • Ah yes Ozito batteries for OzB's house building bricks

  • +2

I grabbed the 2x4ah and 2x2.5ah kit on the weekend for $129 if anyone needs some extras.

I bought this initially then did the Maths and reckon it's better value picking up the 3x 4ah pack for $99 and one of these $20 packs

      • +9

It's better value but I quite like the 2.5ah for smaller jobs, a lot lighter over time

        • +1

Yeah, try using the detail sander with a 4ah. It's like have a brick onboard.

2.5ah are great for most tools, but I can't use them for everything. My Ozito 36V chainsaw needs two batteries. The 2.5ah soon overheat and shutdown, but the 4ah do much better.

      • fark using a little drill with the 4AH battery all day. with the 2.5, its perfectly balanced in hand.

      • Too many batteries don't need that many, when you buy the tools they come with charger and battery so I got 2 new tools recently they come with battery and the other has Quick Charger + battery so just need another spare Fast charger that's all

Cheaper that way if you are buying the tools anyway. This deal is good if you need the Fast Charger if not agree your deal is better

        • Most Ozito tools I've seen are skin only, no batteries.

    • +1

are you trying to sell off some batteries and charger from this pack?

    • I picked one up this morning, was probably overkill but seemed like the best value pack at the time.

  • +12

The smaller batteries are great for applications where less weight is better than more power.

    • the 2.5ah provided the same power output 750w as the 4ah battery so you're not giving up power at all. all you have is less runtime

      • +2

Some tools like the jet blower won't turbo unless you have the higher capacity batteries. So in some ways the 4ah provides more power

        • +1

Nah I can confirm the jetblower will turbo even with the 2 x 1.5ah batteries that I use on it.

Doesn't run for long though, but I'm too tight arse to justify buying the 4ah 3pack. Currently using a 4ah and 1.5ah on the blower, and swapping out the 1.5ah for another when it runs out lol

        • Yeah, the 36V chainsaw also seems to work much better with 4ah. It seems to use so much power that the 2.5ah shutdown and need to cool down. Both lights come on when I put them on the charger, but they are only half discharged.

      • +11

        Yes, these and the 5.2ah packs use 20650 cells where the 2.0ah & 4.0ah use 18650's. The new slim sealed 3.0ah & 40ah packs and the 6.0ah & 8.0ah use 21700's

Specs for power output in watts on the batteries from Einhells website.

        2.0AH 450 watts.
        2.5AH 720 watts
        4.0AH 900 watts
        5.2AH 1260 watts
        6.0AH 1350 watts
        8.0AH 1350 watts

        The new sealed batteries.
        3.0AH 900 watts
        4.0AH 900 watts.

        • Hope Ozito have designed these better than the Workzone counter-parts.
The Workzone 8Ah battery doesn't fit some of my older tools.

        • +3

my bad, I thought the 4ah were 750w but looks like they are actually 900w which explains why some tools will run better with them.

      • +2

In real-world use, the bigger batteries absolutely provide more power. Using a blower for anything over a few minutes is night & day with a 2ah v 4ah. The higher capacity is able to deliver a much more consistent higher current. Been said countless times in the countless Ozito deals.

  • Thanks OP. Ordered one.

  • Thanks OP, just in time to pair it with my free brushless reciprocating saw 😂

  • +3

When I bought another one of these (to run the angle grinder from the recent deal), I had a chat with a Bunnings employee. He tried very hard to up-sell me to the 4Ah.

Glad I persisted though, the 2.5Ah does work just fine for smaller tasks. And having multiple of them for $10 each (after selling the charger on FB for $10, took 3 hours from placing the ad for someone to pick it up) makes it easy to complete bigger jobs.

I very much prefer the lower weight and smaller size of the 2.5Ah batteries.

    • Not sure about FB sell but I thought you can attract scammers even if it's $10. Not trusting strangers to go to your home and pickup. And $10 is not worth my time and posting to deal with the stress

      • You need some street smarts for the scammers, and some tattoos and attitude for the stranger stress.

Don't mind if I do - thanks! will grab a couple.

Word of warning - Do not buy this on PowerPass, it will void your warranty!
Remember that Ozito (and, I think Ryobi) are DIY tools - hence not suitable for a PowerPass "trades person"

Interesting enough I recently bought a battery operated Ozito braid nail gun and they could not put it through the PowerPass…
Previously I bought a battery operated mower through PowerPass and one battery stopped charging the next day.
I though I can replace the battery but I had to bring back THE WHOLE LOT and have it replaced.

That is when I almost got refused because it was bought through PowerPass but they eventually accepted as it was the very next day…

    So be aware…

    • Alternatively, I've put everything through powerpass and asked them if it really does void the warranty and been told no as they can't actually prove it was being used for trade use and not DIY. I don't think they really care that much because you're not getting a discount for putting it through pp, I just do it for the digital receipt

I have had the issue of a bad battery though, the middle LED didn't work out of the box so it would only look like you had 1 bar or 3, they made me bring back the drill, driver and both batteries to swap that one battery over

      • +2

In-store checkout on the Powerpass app… huge timesaver when the queues get too long

But yeh, I remember reading somewhere that this was debunked by an Ozito rep, though there have been overzealous staff/managers that have tried it on.

Anyone using these with Dyson? Would like to know how long this will last on a V8 on standard mode. Bigger ones last longer but make the dyson heavier.

    • +1

I bought an adapter 10 months ago for about $20, it works fine, but my wife didn't like it. It heavier and couldn't stand properly, I only have 3Ah and 4Ah Batteries , so I switched back to the original.

      • I've got the same adapter and put in a 4Ah battery which I find is too heavy for a stick vacuum. Was hoping a smaller battery would be better.

        • +2

these will be better for your arms due to being lighter but at the same less runtime. Your choice.
In any case, still better than paying over $90 for Dyson battery which lasts for a year before they shot themselves.

      • Which one of these would be equivalent to ozito?

        • +1

          Einhell

    • An adaptor I bought on Amazon arrived yesterday, haven't done much testing but a 1.5mAh battery didn't last long (10 mins?).
I just bought the 4-pack of batteries for $129 today, hoping that will give better runtimes.

      • The best part is you can swap batteries on the go when one runs out of juice. As far as you have more than one battery. On my Dyson V8, this is not possible so even a smaller Ozito battery is a win for me.

Worth mentioning that the standard price for the non-promotional kit with the red label battery is $69
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-2-5ah-battery-and-…

  • Thanks OP

  • I have 2 of them, I like them, they are not heavy and won't add too much weight to the tool, and quick to reach full charge. I have some game changer adaptors to use them also on my dyson vac and my Ryobi equipment.

  • If you have the older version of the Ozito Detail Sander, this is the Goldilocks' just right battery. Larger batteries don't fit, with the exception of the 3Ah, which seems to share similar dimensions.

  • whats the difference with this kit? https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-2-5ah-battery-and-…. Why is the battery with the red label much more expensive?

    • Other than the colour, they are supposedly the the same. They usually used to market these to price match Aldi, but they have been popping up more frequently now.

    • I believe the red batteries can be fast charged. The black ones can't.

      • +1

They charge fine in the dual rapid charger. That goes for the black 4.0ah and these black 2.5ah packs.

        • Interesting. I was getting my info from here
Not a rock solid source I'll admit.
I wonder if they charge at faster speeds on the fast charger, or just at the normal rate.
From previous discussions I believe the internals on the red and black units are the same. But I wonder which components provide fast charging capabilities.

          • @stuckster: To be fair, I have not timed them, but they do charge just fine. Pretty sure someone here pulled the two different 4.0ah packs down and reckoned they were the same. If I can find it, I will leave a link.

      • +12

There is no way I was reading this comment without breaking open my batteries to check. Results below, the 2.5ah are identical, the 4ah use the same board but different cells, though there's a bit of a time difference between manufacture on those ones

        https://imgur.com/a/A3NwI20

        • Great work and nice info share, thanks.

        • Nice one. Thanks for doing that. I couldn't find the particular post that had pics.

  • Thanks OP, free delivery with OnePass is very handy for me!

Anyone seen a decent deal lately on an ozito or Aldi Jigsaw?

To save the muppets time..I'm taking about the Jigsaw tool..not a jigsaw puzzle.

  • Got 1x old and 1 x new Fast charger but will keep this Fast charger due to having 4 batteries. Not sure if I can sell old charger lol

    • +1

I prefer the slow charger with the smaller batteries.

      • And why is that? I guess slow charge is better for longer life span?

        • +1

Yep. If it's got a few cells in parallel to share the load, fast charge. But a 5s1p Id stick to a slow charge…

Never had a battery die (aldi or ozito) yet….but been through multiple chainsaws / trimmers (they get a floggin). Must be close to 10 yrs.

Try not to full charge…NEVER leave on charge.

          • @tunzafun001: Same. I use a tp-link smart plug and set an auto-off timer. Don't care if it gets to 70/80/90%, I never leave it sitting on charge at 100% for hours on end.

            • @Kelpei: Hmm how do you set timer so when it reaches 100% then auto off…. You can't man. Unless you time your charging cycles to the dot

              • @neonlight: A complete charge of the 2.5Ah battery takes about 50mins (~2% per min) if using the supplied 3A fast charger. If there's 1 bar left on the battery then the state of charge is 33% or lower. I just set an auto-off timer for 30mins and go about my day. The battery won't get to 100% this way. Of course there is no way of telling what the exact state of charge is afterwards unless one goes measuring the terminal voltage, but it doesn't really matter. Topping it up to 100% every now and then won't hurt it, but complete charge and discharge cycles every single time will.

  • Thanks op worked well with one pass free delivery

  • I was wondering if theres such thing as Makita LXC 18v to Ozito battery adapter? I have a few Makita tools and 4 5aH batteries, but recently got hooked on buying random Ozito bits and bobs for occasional around the house jobs.

  • I have Ryobi and Bosh battery powered tools and have an adapter to interchange the batteries between them, I can't fault the Ryobi batteries. I've been wondering if the Ozito batteries are just as good as the Ryobi ones, or are they generally considered inferior?
