This trimmer has a defective button which stops working after 6-12 months. There are lots of reports of this on the Amazon reviews. I went through four or five of them before I gave up and went with another another brand.

      Yep, happened here too.
The Philips OneBlade system gives me a better cut, although you need to replace heads once in a while.

      • How do you use the OneBlade? Most of the reviews I saw of it said it struggled with thicker beard trimming (say to like a 2 or 3), and that it would be better to get a phillips multigroom instead.

I have the Oneblade and it sucks for longer beards. It works really well for a clean shave, but I end up spending ages going over the same patches when using 2-5mm as it misses a lot. I would say I have slightly above average beard thickness, but hardly.
Have had the Oneblade for about 2 months now and considering getting a proper trimmer as it just takes too long to get it consistent

          • @jimboner: Thanks for your review, appreciate it! That definitely confirms what I had thought from those reviews.

        • Yea he's right about that. Really depends on your hair length and density.
I keep a fairly close cut, upto a week and my hair is straight. Also good for being precise.
It'd be too weak for thicker beards.

Yes, I have the same one and the button stop working within basically a month of owning it. I had it replaced 3 times but the Shaver Shop were extremely difficult to deal with refusing to refund it and only offering a replacement or getting me to pay the difference for a more expensive model. They would go on the spiel about Wahl being the best shaver brand with an excellent reputation.

After my experience with the Shaver Shop I would avoid them if possible.

+1. Button failed on chrome model after 12 months. Staff at Watergardens Vic. Shaver Shop were no help at all.

Same issue here, had one replaced which died a couple of months in then that one died around the 15 month mark.
Absolutely loved it when it was working but ended up replacing it with a different brand

    • I bought the chrome model 3-4 years ago from Parramatta, NSW Shaver Shop. I had to replace the internal battery (myself) on second year as it wasn't holding much power but other than that still works perfectly. Still cuts like first day.

One thing I need to mention that, I hate that L shape charger connector. I wish it had charging stand with contact charging rather than pluging the adapter every time.

Have had this for 2 years now. Does the job very well. No button issues here, but paint scratches off with time.

    • Same here. Only issue was the paint but has been great. Did recently get the boxes sharpened and the repairer said he has had many of these fail and have issues but considered me one of the lucky ones.

      • where did you get the sharpening done?

        • +1

A local guy in South-West Sydney. He is also the Wahl repairer for the area and usually does the dog clippers (and horse) for us as they need sharpening more regularly.

Unless you're doing patterns or intricate work, the best decision ever was to leave beard trimmers behind me, and just use the lower number combs on an actual hair clipper.

    1000x easier faster and snag-free.

Lithium Ion in a beard trimmer? That's insane…

    • +2

      I hate that ad!

    • +2

I came here to post this. I don't really understand what is so insane about using a pretty common rechargeable battery for portable electronics.

      • The ad seems counterintuitive too.
I want well engineered products, not insane ones.

        • I know. They make it sound like the battery might explode and give you chemical burns.

  • Don't know if it's my button, but when I try and use it it spins for 1/2 a second and doesn't work

I've had one of these for nearly 3 years that I've used every week with no issues.

  • Now used it for a few weeks - it's an excellent shaver.
