Recommend 18650 Battery for UV365nm 5W Light

I have a 365nm UV light(5W) and my 18650 battery drained quickly. It would be very low capacity.
I was searching for 18650 batteries…and there are so many different brands of 18650 batteries available on the market..
Which one should I buy?? Is it all the same ?? just buy higher capacity batteries?
Also if I order batteries from Aliexpress should be delivered to Australia without any issue? or is it a prohibited item?

Thank you for helping me guys!

Had this same question before. Have a look at Project Farm's excellent analysis of 18650 batteries. It's actually better value to purchase relatively expensive but higher quality batteries from reputable manufacturers like Samsung & LG then the cheap cells from Amazon or Aliexpress. I'd recommend getting the Samsung 30Q batteries, ~$15 for twin pack on Ebay.

    • Wow.. Thank you for that link. Very useful information. I would buy Samsung one :)

  • Samsung 30q are the standard go to 18650. Please note these are unprotected and without the button top. You should check what your device needs.

I ordered a couple 30q on ebay and one on aliexpress and they came with no issues.

Not sure if I bought from this one but I'd be comfortable getting it.

It should fit on my UV light.
Price is not that much different. I will order from ebay :)
      Thank you for the link.

  • I'm currently using a Panasonic-Sanyo NCR18650GA in my Convoy S2+ Nichia UV 365nm.

    • Are you using a protected 18650 battery??
and when I am using the UV light I can feel the heating in the front part? is it normally like that?
It's my first time using 5W UV light and the front part is getting hot when I'm using it.

      • The one I have isn't protected.

I bought them a few years ago from this deal

It appears the store is stilling them for $8.49 each when you purchase 2 or more.

        • Thanks for the link :)
