    A Liebherr fridge?

The German manufacturer of gigantic earth-moving machinery and enourmous cranes makes fridges now?

These must be built like tanks.

    • +4

      Since the 50's.
Think they've been in to fridges longer than diggers

    • +2

      Yup, they are good fridges.

      • +4

Yes, but how many tonnes of earth can this fridge move per hour?

        • +3

          I wash my carrots first.

    • +3

And Honeywell, the brand that makes my air conditioner makes quantum computers :)

      • +4

And rubber gloves and ear plugs

      • +1

And Samsung maker of phones and TV's makes defence weaponry.

        • And launders revenue through 'private' bank accounts

      • +3

I first learned about Honeywell because they made video game controllers at some point.

        • That's hilarious

        • That’s right! They used to be all over Tandy and Dick Smith.

      • +2

        And Westinghouse make Nuclear reactors…

    • +2

Heard of the Chinese brand Haier? This is how it gots its name.

    • Samsung makes tanks too

      • +12

Yeah but where are the deals for them?

        Tanks alot.

    • +2

Bought one their fridges a year ago. Beautiful, functional and well built quality fridge.

Good warranty, and importantly, serviceable (the rear of the fridge in NOT sealed off). so won't become landfill too early in it's lifetime.

It was the only fridge on the floor NOT made in China and at least serviceable.

  • +9

    No delivery to Sydney.

    • -2

      They do, see below.

Yes, we do. $250 inc GST to Sydney Metro.

  • +12

Fantastic units - they make the fridges for Miele as well.. Have owned a set for over 15 years, hasn't skipped a beat! Just built to a totally different standard.

Not sure how these are so cheap though

    • I had the Miele version of this fridge, and a matching freezer.

Absolute units. Kept food fresh really well, and I miss it. Had to sell them when I moved due to lack of room.

And I bought them for 4.5k total.

      • Let me guess the handles broke as usual?

        • The front fell off.

    • I remember doing my research 10 yrs ago and they were the best, luckily for me my 15+ yr old hand me down 500L westinghouse also has had zero issues.

  • Only available for pickup at this address

    58 Guthrie Street
    Osborne Park, 6017

    or local delivery?

    • Yes, you can pick it up from our store or have it delivered to Perth metro is $50 per unit.

  • +2

does this have a matching freezer on clearance?

  • +7

    I'm digging this

  • Do you deliver to Sydney?

    • Yes, we do. $250 inc GST to Sydney Metro.

  • +1

    Thats one good looking fridge

    • App idea, Fridget, swipe to your preference… :-)

  • +7

Does anyone own this particular model and have any feedback? I'm not in the market for a fridge right now, but will be in the next year or so. Interested to know why this is so expensive when it only has refrigeration and a 2.5 star energy efficiency rating.. I get that they're made in Germany, but I would be interested to know from anyone who has owned either this model, or an older model for 5+yrs

    • +1

Yeah, the energy rating seems a bit low given that a fridge is operating 24/7…

    • +1

What makes this fridge unique is that it doesn't have all the bells and whistles which break down on the new fridges…. Eg chilled water on demand, ice maker, knock on door to see what's inside, touch screen monitor etc

      • +1

Or its just made of better quality components. I have no idea about this fridge, but i know plenty of fridges without any of those features that are very average to poor quality still.

        • +1

And have constant noises due to some component vibrating another.

  • Website looks like it has some decent deals

  • +5

I don’t know if they still have sales but we bought our Leibherr from these guys at a scratch and dent. Might be worth a ring.

    • +11

      Username checks out :-)

  • +1

Ok, I have a Lego Liebherr excavator, should I get a fridge now?

    • +4

It depends, does your excavator have a crisper drawer?

  • +1

My god this thing is horn. I wish I had a need…anyone know an easy way to break a fridge?

    • Put it in an enclosed cupboard during 40 degree heat.

  • +3

States 5 year warranty but link states 3yrs. So what’s the correct one?

  • +1

any deal on the liebherr barrique 63? wine fridge

  • +9

Recently bought a Liebherr freezer last month as was tired of defrosting an older westinghouse freezer (was not frost free)

The Liebherr certainly has a feel of quality and class (not to mention costing the same as three Chinese made freezers but to quote Anna Lappe - “Every time you spend money, you're casting a vote for the kind of world you want.”).. What the Liebherr had that none of the other freezers I looked at had was glass plates on which your shelves are on so you can switch between either.. Guess you still do get what you pay for!… $1400 for this fridge is very good value for a quality brand unit.

When our Australian made Westinghouse fridge/freezer goes kaput (hopefully will last many more years) we will probably replace it with a Liebherr or other quality manufacturer given manufacturing in Australia is unfortunately dying :(

  • +3

    This or the Mitsubishi multidrawer?

    • This is only a fridge and doesn't have an ice maker.

    • I have the Mitsubishi and it's great BUT it's an odd shape and doesn't fit into most fridge spaces with shelves above.

      • Yes you either need non standard or no kitchen cabinetry above. But it is a great fridge.

    • +1

      Mitsubishi

  • +1

    Liebherr? I hardly knew her

    • +4

I think you meant "him" (=Herr).

      • +1

yeah he said he hardly knew herr, they didnt get that far

  • +1

    Great cranes

  • +2

is there a freezer to match?

  • +13

I just bought a new fridge, that’s why all these fridge deals are coming up guys.

  • +1

Shame its not integrated, i was looking for two

  • +2

    This is one cool deal.

    • +1

      And one tall/skinny fridge.

      • Too skinny for me

        • Yeah, these European sized fridges just don't work here unless your kitchen is designed for those dimensions.

I really wish they would make a 5xx litre refrigerator in the Australian size, i.e. short and stubby.

          • +7

@mrhugo: They do make one, the Leibherr Chode 550.

            • @BartholemewH: hahaha, I was thinking, "sold" even before I searched for it.

              Does it come in silver?

            • @BartholemewH: I assume you do know what “chode” means as well. NSFW.

          • @mrhugo: The European Fridges are good for built in fridges. We have a “wall of cupboards” affect in our kitchen and finding a Fridge to sit behind the door is a pain. You need enough room to provide air flow as well.

  • Delivery to Canberra? any other option?

    • Yes, we do. The delivery cost is $250 inc GST

  • +1

Do I lose the cool air from the whole fridge to take out one carrot ? What year is this?

  • +2

    Website says 3 years warranty.
    Post says 5 years.

  • +30

You didn’t sell enough at $1200, but you’re hoping a price increase will do the trick?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/558518

    • lol

    • Lmao

    • +5

By looking at the votes, it seems to be working

    • +2

They probably encountered the higher fees, quarantine holding costs and delays at the shipping wharf due to Covid…. Happened to my workplace….

      • +1

Yes, and pre-orders are always cheaper.

    • Its the perception that its meant to worth more

    • That was a pre-order before they had any stock - probably to see if it made the shipment worthwhile - clearly it was. Still a good price regardless.

  • Anyone had any liebherr appliances serviced?
Just recall reading up about them to find out that replacement part costs were high and not well serviced/supported?

  • I'd rather support our mates in NZ (Fisher & Paykel) - our pigeon pair fridge-freezer is going strong for 12 years so far, never had a problem.

    • +7

F&P is Chinese owned (by Haier) , if that has any influence on ones buying decisions.

      • no wonder our recent F&P purchases (last 3-4 yrs) have been very very unlike of A&NZ Brand.

      • +2

There are no fridges made locally so that doesn't really matter it's either Korea China Vietnam Thailand

      • +1

And to add to it, their service recently has been horrible! It seems like they have call centre staff trained by Al-Qaeda or something as when you call them there is constant threats of call out fee and having to pay for technician if he finds that the unit is not faulty!
Worst part is I have had 3 service calls so far for a 4 month old dish washer. As much as we love the design, practicality and quietness of the dual drawer dishwasher I don't think the quality is really there. So given the price premium and issues we had with this unit I cannot recommend F&P to friends anymore.
