Web Hosting & Domain Pricing

Hello!

I am in the process of setting up my own website in an effort to reduce the costs of online selling and to make my products easier to find online (I am currently using Etsy).

I am considering setting up a WordPress site through WooCommerce. For a host I'm considering using Zuver which appears to be $10.50/year to register a domain and $190/year for their basic smart package for hosting (With a further 50% off for the first year using code WP50).

I have also considered the shopify very basic plug-in of $9/month but not sure how easy that is to use.

These seem like reasonable prices to me but I am always keen for a bargain.

Can anyone find/recommend something cheaper/better?

Thanks for any helpful advice you can provide :)

Been using Digital Pacific (www.digitalpacific.com.au) for 10+ years with zero outages.

They have fixed my stuff-ups immediately (and I have made a few) with a sense of humour.

Sydney company with 24/7 support in Sydney.

It is super simple. Actually it's even easier than that.

How many products / variations do you have?

    • I’ve got about 12 products currently each with three variants. This will expand with time but I would say only to 30 products or so :)

  • Grab a free domain for one year with VentraIP here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/600673. VentraIP are the owner of Zuver (Zuver is their budget brand). Then before the year is up you can transfer the domain to Zuver at no cost to renew at their cheaper annual fees

  • This might be too late, but you can also host Wordpress on the regular cPanel plans, and it's quite a bit cheaper. Depending on your needs, somewhere between $40-100 a year.

There's a one-click installer available too, so it's not difficult to set up.

Edited to add - Zuver is fantastic, you won't do better without spending (quite a lot) more money. I've been using them for 6 years or so and haven't had an issue.

Actually in recent times their parent company VentraIP depending on what you require can be better priced.
