    One of my favourite beers.

  • Nice deal - not sure the $80 RRP is right, as the prices have come down in the last year or so. This is probably also old stock, as they don't produce in bottles anymore.

But still, nice price on my favourite everyday beer.

    • Did they change owners? My favourite but I haven’t bought for a while and I read quality has gone down? Is that true?

      • It was sold to Tribe ages ago, but the changes have been a bit more significant recently. I don't think the quality has gone down, I'm drinking the cans of pale at my cricket club, and older bottles at home, and there isn't that much perceptible difference.

Tribe is still an independent group, but a bit more scale than a standalone independent.

    • I thought there must have been a technology improvement that eliminated the metallic taint from cans and was driving their uptake in the craft scene, but being able to do a side by side between my remaining Long Neck stock and a can, there's a definite flavour difference with bottles being my distinct preference.

        There isn't a difference.

        • theres definitely a difference between beer canned and bottled.

Very marginal difference if any. Nothing that is going to put me off buying the cans (which is all I can get now anyway, other than this deal)

      • Can you try the fizz difference with a 2L Coke vs can as well tks ?

      It's coffee you (profanity)!

  • good deal, thanks.

  • Very tempting but never had brown ale before, how does it taste like?

its a decent beer but you can get a case of 375ml tins from first choice for $62.

Brown Ales have flavours along the lines of chocolate, coffee, toffee, butterscotch etc. If you've never had one, I wouldn't buy two slabs, but I would definitely recommend picking up a six pack of this, as it's one of the more approachable and easy drinking examples.

    • Thanks guys! Will try with the six pack first.
