This would be equal to a $500 gift card deal. probably worse if you could find a Xr lower than $699.

  • so in effect you getting the plan for about $199 for 12 months which pretty good considering 80Gb per month not the whole year

    • +3

      $69 - 10 * 12 = $708 + $199

So $907 all up for 12 months.

      • +1

Iphone $699 out right with boost plan 110GB for $200 total $899
vs this for $907 if looking to buy this phone this deal much better.

        • But, with discounted gift cards + gift cards redeemed through reward points, XR would be cheaper than $699 outright.

          • @netsurfer: True but also have to pay upfront where this can be spread over 12 months after first payment $199.
Still JBHIFI/TGC Telstra deals have been good compare to what other 2 are not offering

  • Where can I find the plan info? Unlimited local and int call?

iphone xs instead. almost a year ago. 😴

    • +1

Ozbargainers have a strange love for this phone, xs at same price a year ago says it all

      • +1

It has a bigger screen and better battery life.

If you don't care about OLED, its possibly a stronger phone.

    • I was able to get this deal at xs max, 512gb… battery capacity is at 99%, it came with iOS 12.3.1, now currently on iOS 13.5 Jailbreak, don’t like iOS 14.

  • -3

This phone is over 2 years old. Pretty sure there are better deals on more recent iphone models out there.

    • -1

      Like what?
The XR is still a good phone even after being on the market a couple years - especially at some of the deal pricing we’re seeing recently

  • OP please update title to include total amount of data per month, not just bonus data.

      Done

Does this phone still stand up pretty well? My daughter has an ageing iphone 8 and needs something new. Was kind of hoping for the 11 to drop to $900 but no sign of that yet. XR at $700 looks a decent deal but is it getting a bit old?

    • It's already 2 years old at this point, I wouldn't go below an 11(2019 models) personally.

    • +1

Wow. Iphone 8 is aged? I thought i can use my Iphone 6s for 1 more year and then move to iphone 12 when iphone 13 comes in and iphone 12 is reduced.

      • +2

Well its been in constant use for 3 years. My son still currently has a 6s!

    • +2

Yes. Apple phones generally have a much longer life span than Android, the XR would be supported and in good condition for another few years at least

      • While that may be true, I generally find that very few people want to keep any phone 3 years or more old, whether apple or otherwise.

        • +1

Yeah count me in to the very few.

    • iPhone XR (or iPhone Xs) actually just 1 year newer than iPhone 8 (or iPhone X).

      • In terms of use though it would be new vs an 8 that has been going for 3 years,

    • +1

I'm still using an iPhone X three years on. Battery is at 85% and updated to iOS 14.4 and it's silky smooth. Only thing that sometimes makes me want to upgrade is the quality of photos on the new models is noticeably different but I can live without that and get to keep my kidneys.

    • +1

my personal phone is an xr and the work mobile is an 8, they both work fine for every day needs. anyone that says the iphone 8 has aged is just talking nonsense. for all daily activities, the xr can handle anything you throw at it.

yes ill get negged because some moron will say 'but you cant record 8k on it'.

    • Absolutely, no brainer

    • The xr is a great phone. I recently upgraded to the 12 and passed my 2 years old xr to my husband. He loves it! In terms of performance I can’t notice many differences, but I’m an average user (I don’t do games or editing, just browse, photos, banking and similar daily tasks). Obviously the 12 has a much better camera and screen.
      If the iPhone 8 is also playing up (such as some buttons not working, depleted battery) it’s a great upgrade. If it’s just the battery you could replace it;
      Which would prolong its life.

      • I think the 8 still works fine but with all her friends getting newer models, well you know. And its her birthday in a couple of weeks. Could probably do with a new battery as we've had it 3 years. I guess could still get maybe $300 for the 8 to offset cost.

        • Possibly, have a look on Facebook to get an idea.

  • So over time it's a little bit more expensive than buying outright? Is that really a bargain?

  • -3

Old phone and low specs. Not worth it

  • -3

    shit phone overpriced plan

    • -1

      Thanks for the considered review.

  • I am waiting for the same deal from JB with $500 voucher. My contract is expiring in a week's time so I am ready.
