  • Really intrigued by reolink but having to replace 4 x xiaomi 360 cams, prospect of paying for a subscription to support reolink is a bit of a deal breaker.

    • If the camera has a SD card slot you don't need the subscription. I have two Reolink Lumus spotlight cameras and I use one on the free subscription and one on micro sd card.

      • Can you not put each on different subscription (account)? For safekeeping of videos in case the SD card is lost might be a worthwhile solution, that is if its possible?

        .

        • You could if you set them up under different emails but it's a hassle to log in and out of the app then

I'd definitely recommend the Reolink Argus 2. It's a great value basic unit that is easy to set up, can be mounted outdoors easily and has a decent app.

Decent deal on the Reolink Argus 2, but deceptive in that the listing uses an 'optional' image of the solar panel which isn't included. When you factor in wait time, shipping and the need for a microSD, the risk is there to save a meagre amount. Remember folks, the solar panel is not necessary. IMO It actually screams 'Here is a security camera!' but that's another story.

I paid $109 delivered for the unit via eBay in late December 2020, got it in 7 days.

$118 here via eBay: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Reolink-Argus-2-Security-IP-Came… and you'll get this in a few business days, compared to the listed deal which will be more like 3 weeks.

You'll need to buy a 32GB MicroSD card as well, so factor that in. I bought this for $7.50ish and worked a treat: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07F876Q96/ref=ppx_yo_d…

Go with the solar charger version mentioned above.
I installed for 4 months now, battery still at 98%

  • I recently bought it from Aliexepress and had it delivered from Australia.
Received in a week. Working perfectly.

  • Does it come with solar panel?

  • Anyone know if this version of the GO supports timelapse? Found this but it mentions the GO PT? Model: https://support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900002907866-W…

  • My original plan was a front door cam connected to a TV in the kitchen. Turn on tv and see whos at the front door, takes about 8 seconds.

Since the Argus 2 cant really be hooked up to a tv - How long does it take for your phone to connect to the camera ?

Do you have to open the app first, log in, start ect ect. I'm looking for something I can very quickly check as soon as I hear a knock at the door.

    • U can hook it up to Chromecast on the tv as a workaround.

  • I can open the app and have video stream within 8 seconds for Argus 2.
It's a great little cam my only issue is you do need some light of a night for the colour starlight sensor

  • I have the Argus2 and would like to point out that if you put it in a location thats sunny you get a lot of false alerts due to the PIR sensor. I believe the Argus 3 overcomes this issue with software recognition of humans or vehicles.

The camera last for a few days without the solar panel. But if you get a lot of false alerts and the camera is set to record to SD card on each alert , the battery can run down in one day.

    • Oh wow I thought the batteries were meant to last months not a day. What a hassle without the solar panel. Glad I went wired

      • depends on where you put the camera and how often it is triggered….. mine lasts around a month or more, with a couple of alerts a day
