  • I'm looking to change my camera's. I have some reolinks which only records for 30sec when it detects motion. Can this be set to always record?

    • In terms of Reolink, have you checked to change the recording schedule to timer?

      • The cameras I have uses the solar panels to charge and doesn't have any options other than allowing 30 or 1min recordings. I think 2 of the 6 I have would be compatible with the Reolink Hub. So just started to look at something that can easily be set up and do recordings all the time. Don't care to have 30 days kf recordings, just at least something.

Haven't set mine up myself, but a quick Google gives this… "To enable continuous recording on your Tapo C212, you need to configure the Recording Schedule within the Tapo app. This allows you to set up 24-hour recording, ensuring the camera captures footage continuously. "

      You're welcome, solid price 👍

    • not working for me :(

      • Make sure you select "Amazon AU" as the seller, offer does not apply for the default seller "Harris Technology".

If you dont need panning the C120 when on sale for about $50 is brilliant. 4MP instead of 3MP, plus added durability of being weatherproof and more options for mounting/placement.

    • Hey - do you know if i could connect the C120 to the same app as this one (c212)? I've already bought 3 of these and wouldn't mind an outdoor one.

      • Dont see why not. I have 3 different Tapo cams all in the same APP.

        • Thank you! Do you have the link to the $50 one that you found?

          • +1

@21Savage: Search Tapo C120. It's not $50 right now, you need to wait for one of the sales if you want it around that price.

  • So many models, confusing. Was just musing on the C211 as a baby monitor for about $35 (we don't need 3 lol) and then you have other well voted deals where the cameras end up going for $25-$30 each …

If you want to record to the cloud it seems like there is a monthly fee ? Do any security cameras come with free cloud storage ?

    • I'm not an expert by any means, but here's a summary…

Hosting cloud services costs money, I doubt many, if any, providers would have a free cloud service. Unfortunately, if want to use the built-in cloud functionally, you'll likely need to pay. And of course, you have to be comfortable having that footage stored on a companies' servers somewhere in the world.

Alternatively, you could buy and NVR (network video recorder), then access that over the internet to view live and recorded footage. Last I checked manufacturers like Swann (and others) provide that functionality for free, but your footage is stored locally (no cloud).

Or, you could set up cameras to dump to a NAS then access remotely or some such (never set this up myself so dont know much about it).

All depends on exactly what functionality you need/want, your level of technical expertise and what you want to pay.

So many models and quite confusing. I bought 3x C211 from the previous offer. The description is the same compared to this model but its exterior is different? Any idea what’s the difference (besides the color)?

    • I found it all very confusing too, I think their main issue is they have such a range of features and there's so many combinations, then there's upgraded models etc etc.

I ended up reading through a tonne of comments here on OzB to try and get an idea (hopefully most of you folks know what you're on about!?) Or, you could have a look at all the features available on their cameras and decide what is most important to you.

Also, there is a comparison function on their site which might help as well, here

    • Model Colour Options Resolution Pixels Wired Option
      C200/C201 White (C200), Black (C201) 1080P 1920 × 1080 No
      C210/C211 White (C210), Black (C211) 3MP 2304 × 1296 No
      C212 White only 3MP 2304 × 1296 Yes (RJ45)

And then they have the indoor models (C1##) & outdoor specific (C5##)

  • why the photo is showing dog on mobile but this model doesnt have pet detection…

  • fyi everyone this is Tapo C212 model

    • Hmm, I did have that info in the title, according to the revisions the model spec was removed by a mod edit, not sure why, could have been an error.

      • Okay not sure too. I just want to make the listing as clear as possible, model number and also resolutions. Fhd,2k 3k, 4k..

        • I've added the model number to the body of the deal for clarity.

  • Not sure why, but the link in the deal shows it for $45.88, but I did a search on amazon and found the same product for $39 here.

I think it's the smid=ANEGB3WVEVKZB in OPs link. Have purchased for $39, thanks!
