Why are these 135 and the romoss 35?

    • +8

For one this outputs up to 60W on the USB-C port vs 18W. If you need to charge laptops or Switch you'll need something this calibre which is not too common (45-60W USB-PD output)

    • +1

Because of the value of the brand I think. Cygnett is a reputable Australian brand while Romoss is a Chinese one.

      • -2

Xiaomi is Chinese branded and i would pick that over Cygnett.

I dont see why China branded would be less reputable.

        • -1

It's not that China can't make great stuff. They can and do. It's that not many Chinese companies can be trusted to do so without external supervision (at least for the kind of goods they export to people like us)

          • +1

@justtoreply: This kind of thinking was true 20 years ago. Their tech companies are far ahead of ours.

            • @lostn: Their everything else isn't. I'm sick of fake certificates.

  • To heavy, more like power brick.

  • +1

only useful for old model laptops, Macbook with M1 does not need this lol

    • +1

At some point, every laptop needs this… but I have to admit that my MBP M1 will run on fumes for the most part. No complaints about battery life on it at all.

Psst, use the code PRO40 and get it for $101.97 😉

    • 18w vs 60w

      • +3

        87w mate !!

        • Shit, my bad, I read that wrong.

          • @b2dz: And up to 60W in too.

Up to 87W out via usb C PD & also up to 18W out via usb A QC3/2 so total out a massive 102W.

May also end up getting for Free as their earlier models had issues and people got a full refund

and could keep their power banks. From outside they are identical, but inside is bit different, wait and see.

    • +1

Not bad actually, just wished it was 2 usb-c + 1 usb-a instead

Also don’t know if just unlucky but have had issues with the other 2 kogan power banks I’ve owned (have been replaced though relatively drama free)

    • No doubt that the Kogan one is better value, but I bought an earlier model of this power bank (65W USB C port) and it got recalled a year later. The unit itself looks identical. I have difficulty trusting the Kogan brand with power banks. A year from now will there be another recall?

      • Let's hope so, then I get another 2 for free again.

My earlier 2 that I got refunded are working perfectly being carefully stored and used in a fireproof lipo bag.

  • Is there anyway this powerbank can be reset or something? Mine PD charging stopped working after I charged the powerbank. It apparently uses the same port for charging this brick and output for PD.

  • +3

Cheaper alternative if you only need PD 45W
Charge faster than Cygnett as it accept 45W input, also comes with 18W 2x USB-A output, LED display and lighter.
Downside is only 20,000mAH and 45W PD.

    • How much does that new Romoss go for normally ( sold out now so can't see price ).

      • +1

        it's $50 at the moment.

Two of them for the price of one Cygnet 27k I think is a better deal. Though if you need 27k and 60W, that's the premium you have to pay.

All in all, the best PB deal ever has to be that Kogan ZMI QB823 for $20. I was sure they would cancel those orders but they honored it. The PB is normally about $100. Cheapest I've seen it is $88.

        • Agree. I totally missed that Kogan deal and paid around $100 for it last year. Really good powerbank,

but the Cygnet is decent too. The Romoss is back in stock now with the price listed, good value, especially if free Prime delivery.

  • This vs Xiaomi ZMI QB23?

    • +4

I would still say Zmi QB823

Maybe i am biased as i have it.

      Can get it for $85.50
      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Xiaomi-ZMI-QB823-Powerpack-20000…

One interesting thing is i had a look at the specs and it looks like Cygnett is using Lithium Polymer cells while ZMI QB823 is using lithium ion cylindrical batteries.
So Cygnett will have a slimmer profile but ZMI will probably last a longer number of cycles.

Also Cygnett is 27000 mah and ZMI QB823 is only 20000 mah.

Cygnett has 2 usb c ports and 1 usb A
ZMI has 1 usb c port and 2 usb A

      • +1

QB823 is only 20,000 mah. This is 27,000.

Kogan offered it for $20 a few months ago though. If you were able to buy 5 of those, it kills one of these.

So Cygnett will have a slimmer profile

It is slimmer, but it's length and width are both much bigger. As far as total volume goes, I don't think it's actually smaller.

ZMI has 1 usb c port and 2 usb A

ZMI can also be used as a USB C hub. The two A ports can be set to be used as extra USB ports. Handy if you have one of those laptops without A ports.

    • This vs Xiaomi ZMI QB23?

If they're the same price, I would get the Cygnett because it's got an extra 7k mah. They're probably not though. And then it would depend how much the QB823 is. If the Kogan $20 deal was back I'd buy at least 2.

Check your 28 Degrees Latitude Cignett cashback offer… I got $30 cashback for $80 purchase

    • +3

I have this offer. I was tempted the last couple of weeks to just buy it for $136 before cashback but decided against it. However, when I saw this deal, I couldn't resist. And it's the last day the offer is available too. $72 would make it the cheapest ever price. And I think it will be eligible for price protection without counting the $30 cashback. So if it's found again at Catch for $79.95 you can get another $22 back.

Make sure you don't check out using paypal btw.

      • Yeah, great deal. I got a similar deal but only using the $30 Commonwealth app casback but still paid $89.97 after cashback.

Nice powerbank to have in your arsenal lol.

        • oh I have far too many power banks… and during stay at home year, i haven't really needed to use them all that often

  • +1

Nice. I will get this since I got the $30 cashback deal on 28D. Today happens to be the last day of that offer. Great timing.

  • +2

Ravpower powerbank is another option for charging laptops at 60w.
    Its $67.99 at the moment.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B084Q734L4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_f…

    • Have not got this Rav powerbank but they make good products and this has great reviews.

Output 60W and input 30W, the Romoss has gone back up to $59.99 now too on Amazon.

  • I just received it. This is one big PB. I'd say in volume it's bigger than the Kogan 27k.
