  • Opinions?

  • Do all these smart devices require an internet connection?

    • +2

Once the initial setup is done (pairing) then the only thing you need is the WIfi coverage, it will still work if the internet is disconnected.

      • I recon my Kogan security camera said it was Tuya. Same app?

  • Special Discount '20% Off Smart Bluetooth Downlight' from Lectory Pty Ltd (OZBARGAIN20) only applies to specific products. Your order will be processed without this discount.
9W WIFI RGBW LED Downlight Kit | 90mm cutout | IC-F | Smart Life Tuya App | Google Home / Alexa

So the discount code does not work

    • Sorry for the confusion, please try coupon code OZBARGAIN23

      • -1

New coupon code works but no free shipping even when I was looking at 15 off them. Forget it - I'm out.

        • No matter what shipping method you choose it will be discounted back to Free shipping, sorry for the confusion the system has to show a shipping charge but it will be deduced from the Total.

  • is it dimmable?

    • Yes it is dimmable

      • Sorry noob question. Do you need an actual dimmer installed for the lights to be dimmed or can I have a normal on/off switch and dim the lights just using the app ?

        • +1

This light does not work with physical dimmer, to dim the light, you need to use the phone app or through google assistance like " hey google, dim the light down by 30%"

  • Flex and plug???

    • +1

Yes it comes with an AU standard Plug

  • What do I choose for the shipping method? As it is now all options add a charge for delivery

    • No matter what shipping method you choose it will be discounted back to Free shipping.

  • +1

good product. have 2 from the previous deal. very happy.

  • What’s the lumens output ? Also do they need to be hard wired or plugins ? Do they have 16 millions colours?

    • +1

The lumen output is around 750-800lm, it comes with a plug.

Yes it has 16millions colours like the Hue RGBW.

  • What happens to the wifi and setup connection if you lose power to house for great amount of time? Will it continuously flash when power is restored? And do you need to reconnect the lights back to your wifi?

    • +1

The light will memorise its last setting once turned off / out of power, it will only go back to pairing mode if you switch on and off the light quickly 5 times in 2 seconds (reset).

So when the power is restored, you do not need to connect them once again with the phone app.

      • Can you give an idea of how quickly they restore their last setting when powered up from off?

  • Anyone know how these go with ripple control when dimmed (QLD, NSW in particular)? Any flicker?

I see claims of flicker free but presumably that is not specifically ripple control related

Can these be flashed with Tasmota?

    • Can confirm these can easily be flashed with tasmota via Tuya convert. Haven't tried a physical dimmer so can't confirm the flickering but HA or voice dimming works great.

      • Thanks. An external dimmer would not be recommended. With a regular non smart light and external phase cut dimmer they all tend to flicker during ripple signal, possible the ripple is confusing the dimmer.

However the smart ones do their own dimming after the power supply, rectifier etc so this should mostly if not completely filter out the ripple signals and thus the flicker. That's the (my) theory

  • Really noob question here but how do would I power these with the plug? If I have down lights installed do all my existing downlights plug into a power source like this one? Am I meant to run extensions cords all through my roof?

Sorry if this is a silly question

    • The trend these days is to use plug bases and each light just plugs in individually.

Some electricians hardwire in, in which case you need an electrician to either add plug bases or cut the plug and hardware these in (definitely do the former).

You should not be running extension leads and/or powerboards in the roof space.

      • Thanks for the reply Shonky and Poster. I have not had a chance to go up and look so was curious how they work.

        Cheers

  • You should have a roof socket next to each downlight hole, there is an easy way to find out.

Turn off the power from the switchboard and pull one of the downlights out from the ceiling hole and keep pulling until you see the plug.

There should be something look like this:

  • Has anyone compared these to the 10W Wiz Downlight at Bunnings for $26?

    • +1

There is also a some Deta models…
10W Deta model @ $32 @ 940 lm, the reviews seem really good.
9W Deta model @ $22.90, the review states the RGB light brightness is way to dim to be utilised properly.

I'm trying to work out what is best.
The ones for sale here and the ones from Bunnings using grid connect utilise the Tuya Smart / Smart Life app interface. Which is a plus for me as then I can use the Brilliant app and have full Ifttt functionality.
And for warranty purposes a Bunnings store maybe closer for the return.(pending location, I'm in Qld)

Comparing specs based on what's available on the website (also for my own reference):

      Feature WIZ Nue
      Price (ea) $26 $23.09
      Wattage 10W 9W
      Lumens 815 700 - 750lm
App WIZ Tuya / Smart life
      IFTTT Yes Yes
      Alexa Yes Yes
      Google Home Yes Yes
      Siri Yes No
      Dimmable (through cloud) Yes Yes
      Colours 16 million ?
      IP protection IP54 IP44
Power outage recovery Yes Yes (According to Rep) / No (According to APP)

Re: Power outage recover it depends on the product, if it has a memory function built it, so assuming that both do. EDIT: It seems that Rep suggests that the Nue will simply revert to on in power outage.

  • Rep, how long will this code work? I need to get home this evening and measure the hole in the ceiling…

    • +1

This code is valid till Friday this week - 5th of Feb

  • Looking to install these in a bedroom. What happens when the lights lose and regain power e.g. blackout? Will the lights turn back on, or go back to the last light state (off)? LIFX default to having the lights on, which is terrible at 3am in a bedroom.

    • Same as Lifx and Philips hue, the wall switch will overwrite the app command.

It will be turned on once the power goes back on from a blackout.

The setting is made to help the user to turn on the right easily with a wall switch while their phone is not around.

      • Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing most lights have the same behaviour. Wish these were around when I bought my LIFX downlights. Could have saved a lot of money!

        • You are welcome : ) Lifx is a good light with gimble design, with a longer warranty and better CRI rating.

  • Whats the IP rating of these lights? Can i install them in/under the eaves outdoor?

    • +1

IP rating is IP44, good for outdoor but has to be undercover or under a roof.

  • Will it work with : https://www.amazon.com.au/Standard-Wireless-Automation-Light…

I have these installed in my house.

  • +1

Yes, it will work this Nue smart switch

  • Is there an IC rating for putting it under insulation? thanks.

  • Wish there were more homekit-enabled products

    Is the licensing fee high?

    They seem rare

Just got 4 x Gu10 Tuya Kogan WiFi bulbs delivered today for $30. Hard to justify how this post is much of a deal

  • Hey OP,

I have gone through the cart and entered the code but all shipping options have a cost. The only option free is warehouse pick up.

    Please advise

****Never mind price is the same. Cheers

    • +1

Hi, no matter what shipping method you choose it will be discounted back to Free shipping, sorry for the confusion the system has to show a shipping charge but it will be deducted from the Total.

Or simply just choose warehouse pickup as a shipping option, we will ship your order with Auspost.

  • Hi Rep,
Can you suggest tri colour dimmable led downlight and socket to go in roof.(links please)
    I am after
    7 rgb,
    11 tri colour
    18 socket
Also are these ok to install under insulation?
    Thanks

  • Fyi, wiz downright let you choose the power on behaviour, ie OFF if prefer

  • Thanks OP. Ordered 5 again :)

  • What does order "on hold" mean exactly? Ordered on 2nd Feb (but after your cutoff for the day)

    • Its sold out at the moment, the new stock will arrive shortly this afternoon and we will dispatch all the orders before Friday.

      Sorry for the delay.

      • Product page says "in stock". Kinda misleading then?

  • Hey Op,

I have just installed these and one of them does not fit due to a metal bar in my ceiling. The original downlight is only 40mm high and these are 50mm. Do you have any low for lm factor smart downlights you can recommend?

    Cheers
