Is this good value? Cash back thing is so annoying. I wish companies were forced to handle cash backs and not the customer.

    • Agree 100%. It is a total pain, but they live in the hope that a lot won't apply for the CB which does happen a lot.

It is just a way to advertise an item at a reduced price without giving the reduced price up front.

      AKA .. a con.

  • not bad price.

I'm sure we will see this price elsewhere in the new year as I believe this is a discontinued model. What I don't understand is why this unit has 2x2Gb ram modules as I am pretty sure they leave the factory with 1x4Gb.

They are quite good units however! Tempting.

EDIT: My reading of this is that you have to pay the standard postage, and they upgrade it to free next day, NOT that the postage is entirely free. Postage to my postcode is $30….so I will wait until MSY or Centrecom clear these out next year.

This is like a joke comparing to the deal centrecom did a few days ago.

  • Seems likely that we will see better deals after Christmas. With Ivy Bridge processors just around the corner retailers will be looking to clear old stock fairly soon and big retailers like Myer and David Jones have said they will be aggressively discounting after Christmas, so I expect some good promotions from the big retailers.

I think anyone in the market for a new laptop who doesn't need one before Christmas will be well served to wait it out.

  • Out of stock now.

  • Problem is the Lenovo cash back runs out 31 december I think (they will probably just extend it perpetually as they do). So timing getting a good deal after Christmas before new year will be crucial.

  • The cash back is valid to 31 Jan according to their website:
    http://www.lenovopromo.com.au/cash/intel/eligible-products.h…

    • There we go - they have extended it already. From memory it was 31 Dec (along with an Acer promo).
