64GB is a dealbreaker for me.

    • +2

I have everything in the cloud so it doesn’t bother me 🙂

What happens if you go on a holiday and shoot videos and you run out of space; are you going to wait in middle of your shoot and upload to the cloud so that you can resume your video recording? But let me guess you don't shoot videos that often?

        • +3

either that or you generally have 4G when you are on holidays..

        • Doesn't apple have OTG or some version of it?

          • @quog: Negged for asking a serious question?

            I

        • stop relying on smartphones if you go into holidays into such rural places

    • FWIW the 512GB XS Max is in the same ballpark of around $1100 (I can't be arsed doing the exact math for their weird-ass numbers), if you're OK with one generation prior… http://optus.com.au/mobile/phones/apple/iphone-xs-max

  • What I see from reviews, it’s better to get iPhone 12 than any 11 be it pro.

    • Yes i agree if you’re happy to pay the extra $16pm. I was already on the $65pm/500gb sim only plan so it is a cheap monthly upgrade for me at $31. Hopefully someone finds this of use 🙂

    • There is no discount on the 12 Pro :
      https://www.optus.com.au/mobile/phones/apple/iphone-12-pro-m…

11 Pro have a discount if you sign up for 24/36 months:
      Save $750.24 off RRP $1,898.64

    • +2

The 11 has miles better battery than the 12.

      • -1

And you know this how? Using both models side by side? The 12 battery is fine…

        • +2

Yeah not like Iphone 12 has been out for months with heaps of articles on the internet about it and not to mention the fact that the actual battery capacity is lower but yeah I must be some kind of soothsayer

  • So $113 pm for 2 years
Or $97 pm for 3 years.
3 years is too long to be on a contract.

  • +1

Note that only 24 or 36 month to month plans get discounted device prices and $65pm/500gb is only discounted for the 1st 12 months after 12 months reverts to $119pm.

    • That’s no good!!
Good spot, if that is true.

      • +1

Yes. $3356 is the total cost for a 24 months 500gb plan for iPhone pro max 64gb.

      • +1

Just downgrade your plan after 12 months.

        • Can you do that if you contracted to 24 months?

          • -1

@bargainperson: You can change your plan anytime you want but if you decide to leave Optus before 24months. you will have to pay full price for the phone.

        • -1

I don’t think that you can downgrade after 12 months…

  • +1

64GB too small at this time and age.

  • +4

24 mth contract is a lie and 36 mth is robbery

  • It’s not that great of a deal still costing about $80pm for 36 months.
Vodafone currently offering the 12 pro max 128gb for $86 pm with 50gb of data 36 months.

    • It is a matter of preference but it works for me and the 500gb of data per month runs my little household where as 50gb would only last a week.

    • +3

      Yeah, but Vodafone is shit.

      • Nah not shit just have bad call quality, bad reception, bad customer service, ok they're shit :)

  • I dont understand reason behind $65 per month plans when we can easily get $10-$15 plans with a lot of providers with unlimited calls and texts.
Is there anything i am missing.

    • +1

The $65 plan comes with 500gb which then people put into a modem to use as a nbn alternative. I know I did that for 3 months during the 120k flybuys promotion.

      • Exactly, I data share with the iPad sim which runs the household WiFi. $65 for 500gb inside the house and out and about 🙂

    • Data. A lot of people don't even use their phones for calls and SMS any more, or if they do, they're using data-based services like WhatsApp, etc.

  • I thought this was a good deal but the device credit only applies when you are connected for the full 24/36 months.

I was under the assumption that the discounted price of $27.74 a month x 36 months for the 11 pro will cost $998
So if cancelled early it will be however months remaining of $998.
But after speaking to Optus chat they confirmed that if cancelled early the credit will no longer exist and will have to pay out the rrp of $1748… no thanks
