  Does anyone actually notice any real tangible advantages in using a genuine toner rather than the much cheaper generic equivalent?

    However, even then that is a bit of a stretch. I used cheap generic toner for 5 years for a commercial application that printed 500 pages worth of documents every 2 weeks. Out of those 5 years, only really had a few small issues related to bad generic toners.

    There is one, when things turn sour and you need to ring up manufacturers for warranty they will make you go all the steps and hassle to get a RMA, one of that was genuine toners and parts are being used at that moment. So make sure you don't leave any generic stuff inside the printer before sending it out for repair.

    The fuser roller in my Brother colour printer disintegrated.
    Info on internet blamed it on 3rd party toner.

    But it was a lot cheaper to replace the roller than to buy Brother-branded toner!

  None.

  Been using generic eBay toner for both of my Lasers, 1 colour, 1 mono, for several years.

  Advantage - saved a fortune in toner costs. Disadvantage - none.

  Been using an LED Laser printer for years now. Toner comes in a small round cartrige, is cheap (about $20) and simple to replace.
