Done the research for reviews so you don't have to.

    https://www.review-hub.co.uk/umidigi-a9-pro-review/#:~:text=….

One thing to note, make sure you’re picking up the 6GB/128GB version of the A9 Pro for the 48MP Sony Sensor. The 4/64 version features an older 32MP Sony sensor.

This is for the 6/128. So it's all good.

Very decent review and excellent value for money.

    Band: 28A and 28B.

  • +1

Been rocking the the A7, or A7S (I forget) for a few months as my daily, thing is a tank for the price, would happily recommend this brand based on that.

  • +6

I can't see anything about this phone on gsmarena or xda. It's a good bet it won't receive a ton of support.

    • +4

That's because it uses a mediatek CPU

    • From my experience with this poopoo company, you'll get a few updates and then there'll be bugs that never get fixed due to zero new updates when they move onto the next phone :)

  • +5

Dont forget code PLUS3P for extra $4.50 off and cashback.

  • +3

Not the good comments on this YouTube review

Better to add Full Phone and Gadget Protection from XCover.com through ebay when purchasing this phone.

    • whats the protection xcover do

      • +3

Not worth it, the insurance is more than 1/10th the cost of the phone and it'll have at least a 1/4 excess to claim.

  • this or poco m3?

    • +11

if it was me i would choose the xiaomi every day of the millennium

      • Poco isn't technically Xiaomi now, or won't be soon.

Owned the same parent though and made in the same places.

      • -1

poco probably a bit better but you won't get it for a month or two. Dealing with BG is the pits.

  • +10

While umidigi claims a 48MP camera, the P60 chip only supports up to 32MP: https://i.mediatek.com/p60

It is using this sensor - it is technically 48mp but it would only be processing 12mp from what I can tell.

UMIDIGI isn't claiming anything, Sony is.

      • +1

Most people reading any Umidigi propaganda where it claims 48MP will believe it, hence my pointing out the P60 chip facts. As your link demonstrates, Umidigi aren't the only ones advertising in this manner.

  • +11

    No NFC.

    • Damn. Deal-breaker for me.

      • +2

        Exactly
OP please add this in the description as this will be an important feature for many users

  • Gotmuch bloatware on these phones? Have a pixel 3xl would this be on par ? Looking a good back up phone upto$250

    • Not a lot in past brands.

    • Had an Umidigi F1 for about a year now: no bloatware at all. Totally stock Android, (camera app was default Mediatek app). Killer phone for the $330 I paid for it. Maybe not Pixel 3xl level performance, but still great value.

  • +1

    Mediatek MT6771V [P70] on the 6GB/128GB version (supports 48mp sensor). MT6771 [P60] on the 4GB/64GB version.

  • +9

Try to avoid this brand. Spend few more dollars and get a Redmi instead. Some components (flex cable etc.) were just junk, I once opened a umidigi phone due to the damaged screen.

  • How safe would be banking transaction on this type of phone?

    • +1

Not safe enough if you have to ask.

    • +4

      Why wouldn't it be?

      • +1

Compare to other known brand like Google/Samsung/Motorola may have better security feature against hacking or data stealing?

        • +3

Umidigi is not known for giving updates on their phones. You won't be getting security updates after a few months.

I have 2 of their phones.

          • +1

@nekov: I've got the A5 Pro and had for a year and a half or more and I still get updates.

            • +2

              @pufffdragon: I also have A5 pro.
              Last update version is 1.7_20200430
              Android security update: March 5,2020

My Xiaomi phone is on 2020-11-01 security patch.

My point is that if you're going to use this phone for banking, and security is important then look elsewhere.

I'm using it as a second device for Pokemon Go, which works well.

          • @nekov: It sounds naive but don't Google Android publish updates as operating system is android?

Also as there way to complete erase existing system and install new reliable operating framework/system?

            • @SydBoy: Google provides updates to manufacturers and then it's up to them to update their phones and push to consumers. This is because every phone has different components and features. This process will usually take a few months for each manufacturer (assuming they haven't abandoned the phone).

Even Samsung can be slow sending updates out.

              • @nekov: I crossed my fingers and bought one before stock runs out.

Hope custom ram would be more secure to install on this one before doing banking transaction.

    This or galaxy S21 ultra?

    • +7

      Yes

    • +6

      Nokia 3310.

      • A week's battery life though…

    • Are you from Fairfield?

    • +1

It depends if you want Helio P60 or Exynos 2100..

  • I brought a UMIDIGI A3X early last year for about $98. Great budget phone.
This however is quite a lot more phone for only about $50 more, very nice :O

    • +12

Where did you bring it from?

      • +5

People using bring instead of buy quite often. Must be evolving English. Wish I brought all my stuff instead of buying it.

        • +6

I can't get used to it and no, I don't want to get used to it.

        • +1

Might be because people write brought instead of bought. I've seen it on here a lot.

      • +1

        Yeah sorry, bought*

  • +5

Build quality aside. I don't know how they manage to offer so much phone for $150. Postage, GST, PayPal and eBay fees whittle it down further. Bonkers. Must be breaking even or selling at a loss.

    • No they are not. Everything is inflated and mobile phone prices is set by Apple. It's cheap when compared to iPhones but electronics is supposed to be cheap. If iPhone price decreases then this doesn't look cheap anymore. It's all relative.

  • +3

says 4 or more for AU $137.99 each, maybe people can do a group buy if living close by.

  • I am looking to buy 2 of them. If anyone willing to buy 1, we can get 7% discount by ordering 3 together. I am in Sydney Lidcombe area if anyone interested?

  • +1

My question is how much of a beast of a phone is this compared to iPhone 7?

  • I'm sure there's no comparison. Same applies to the price…

  • Does this have speakers? Thinking of getting it for my dad for podcasts, music and radio shows to listen at night. The review does not mention speakers and if quality ok just to listen to audio at night

    • Yes

      • Thanks, brought on for pa :)

  • I'm surprised this eBay seller could offer a better deal than BG ($199)

  • Excellent value, however, bit concerned about reliability. OK as a second phone I guess…

  • +3

Was curious and looked up, the Helio P60 is practically on par with the Snapdragon 665 performance wise. Slightly slower 4G speeds, probably less energy efficient but otherwise equivalent in CPU, GPU and Memory within like 5% on benchmarks.

SD665 is used in popular ozbargain phones like the Oppo a52 and Redmi Note 8T. So pretty insane how cheap this is for the hardware alone and locally shipped. Never gotten an umidigi phone though so can't speak for the build quality or software optimisation but I think it's still a deal.

    • The energy efficiency is the deal breaker part. For a while Mediatek chips have been doing well performance wise, however it's the higher nm fabrication that always lets them down. The Xiaomi Note phones with SD chips usually end up being best bang for buck even if they are 50 ish more.

  • Payed $200 for mine a few weeks ago.

Only minor flaw is the wifi drops out once in a while (turn off and on and reconnects instantly).

Other than that it's pretty good.

    • Thanks for the warning. That's one of the main problems with my current phone that I'm trying to avoid. Used to be every now and then and then it became worse.

    • +1

Change wireless setting on your router/modem

      RTS threshold 2347

Beacon interval 1000 (or 100 to ensure connection)

DTIM 3 (or 1 to ensure connection)

      • For the Request To Send (RTS) threshold, wouldn't you lower it from the usual default (maximum of 2347) if you're having issues with dropouts? Same goes for your beacon interval default, which is normally 100ms. For dropouts with objects that move around the house such as mobiles, wouldn't it be recommended to try going below 100, which will lower connection speed and increase battery use (especially with a low DTIM of 1) but prevent the wifi from going to sleep?

After travelling for long periods in foreign hostels with cheap mobiles and always struggling with wifi while those on iPhones had flawless connections, I've relied on foreign 4g SIM cards ever since they've come down in price. The problem in Sydney is I always seem to live by a hillside with no 4g.

      • Almost forgot… Any channel on 2.4ghz WiFi from 1-5 with low contention (other 2.4 signals from other people or routers close to you, overlapping the channel you are on) and to prevent microwave interference.

  • +1

I had an umidigi f1 with the P60 chip and huge battery.. thing lasted 2 days easy. Only ever charged it when plugging into Android auto in the car. I eventually "upgraded" but still miss that freedom of NEVER considering battery %

    • +1

Same. Still got my F1 - crazy good phone for just over 300 bucks.

  • +2

I was hesitant last night and now sold out.

  • +1

    Yep all gone

  • +1

Good deal but Mediatek means no buy from me. Would rather spend some more and get a Xiaomi with a SD chip for 200ish

    • +1

Mediatek budget SoC's haven't been bad in years, but the phone would still have to be a lot a lot cheaper to not go with a Snapdragon instead.

      • Yeah I do agree with that, I've had a few mediatek chip devices and was surprised at how decent the performance was. But yeah if they are within $50 of a SD chip phone, I'd rather pay more for the SD. Smaller fabrication aside, the custom rom scene is a huge bonus, at least for Xiaomis.

  • +2

Be careful- the phone in the link has changed to the 4GB version.

    • +2
    • +2

      Cause 6g were sold out?

      • Yep. The 6G option is there but greyed out because it sold out. So ebay defaults the page (and price) to the available option.
Also, the seller apparently updated the price, as in comment above.

  • could someone share some information about this brand?

Never heard about it, but it seems everyone knows this brand..

I feel like I haven't been following the market for years…

    • There is a lot of reviews online for their phone versions… Search in YouTube for a start.

    • It's been a cheap Chinese brand for a a few years I have seen on Aliexpress etc, they try to undercut Xiaomi & Huawei with lower bin products.

I have only read and seen negatives about their software, advertisements in phone, build quality etc. I strongly suggest spending the 30%-50% more on a Xiaomi subrand like Redmi/Poco.

    • +2

I have had a few umidigi phones.

Usually a few system software updates and then no more.

Software bugs from play store dont normally get ironed out (if you even have any) for about a year. Would help if more people reported bugs instead of just being passive and keeping their grievances to themselves.

Have been pretty unbreakable screen wise…I have no idea what glass they're using, but it works. The included cases are quite tough and protective, so that helps.

Cameras on the lower end and mid range models are nowhere near where they need to be, even with good sensors. Third party apps help resolve these problems, or at least improve everything from image quality at night, to video. Slowly but surely bigger lenses are coming to phones, which IMO is the only real way to resolve the low light issues, doesn't matter how good this sensors are (Even a night shot on a note 10+ is the same as a midrange umidigi, no kidding).

Gaming is smooth on the mid range phones, even with intense FPS games.

Battery life is great. I run the battery saver mode all day because all the CPU power available is overkill for most daily use case scenarios.

If you're gonna buy one, only buy from the umidigi Australia eBay store, simply for ACL and warranty purposes.

  • +1

I received mine yesterday and it worked out best Mobile deal I had in last decade… For $140 (eBay discount plus coupon code) I got 128gb plus 6gb is unbelievable.

Phone runs smoothly, battery seems to be finished early as it didn't last a day but it may be due to over use of new phone.

Best thing about this mobile is that screen protector is applied and cover is provided in the box.

    • +1

Yes! I got mine two days ago and absolutely agree with you. This will make a solid backup for me. Definitely a good bargain assuming it doesn't die prematurely, but I dont see that happening.

  • UMIDIGI = very poor service!
they don't response to customer's request!
    they don't reply emails!
