  • Howdy, does this rain gauge empty itself? I notice that is mentioned on some other models.

yes and seems to be pretty accurate so far (had it for a week)

Confirmed. I don't know why they don't say it does like the other version of rain gauge, but it works fine for me. Think about wether you want that display though (it looks a bit naff to me). They do another model with a colour display or you can get the version without a display that you can view on a phone or tablet - either their app (which is a bit basic looking) or the web site which is better.

You also get one outdoor temperature sensor (on the unit with the rain gauge) and one indoor. You can add other sensor for just over $20. Also a 2.5nm (can't remember the exact nomenclature for that) particle sensor (for dust/smoke).

        • pm2.5, I think. (dust/smoke)
Thanks for the feedback guys, anyone tried the function that allows data upload to the web? Is it reliable, connection-wise?

  • Reviews are outlining the App lets the system down. Any experience that this has been addressed?

    • Yes it's not great. It does have the data, just looks clunky. The Ecowitt weather site or one of the alternatives is a better way to view it. At least you have alternatives and from them should be able to work out something you like.

    • The app is only useful for the initial setup and troubleshooting tbh. After that use one of the upload services.

What is annoying is the seller posts on here to get exposure (advertising), but only these stupid 'lightning deals'. The range of products is quite confusing, so it can take a while to work it out and decide if you want the particular product on sale. By the time you've worked that out the deal is over.

Also the seller makes all the money and doesn't answer any questions on here leaving it up to previous buyers. Poor attitude.

    • Agreed, I asked a question and got a fairly quick response from someone else here which was great. While doing my own research to find about add-ons etc, I seem to have missed out on the deal. It would be nice if the poster was here to answer questions about the product they are trying to sell…

True, but that's capitalism by design…sellers that care are out-sold by those who don't. We have to rely on fellow ozbargainers' for honest answers to the real questions.

    • i waited so long for the GW1000 to come on special (last week) as i didnt want the useless display

  • Also worth pointing out you don’t get the pole to mount it on the roof. It does have the U bolts to clamp onto a pole. Any standard tv antenna mount will work. I used this:
