Good find OP but the Dial is a bit girlish!

    • +6

Not sure why you got negged for expressing a subjective opinion. I happen to think it looks pretty classy. But after owning a withings watch whose battery lasts for a month, I can't fathom charging a watch every day.

      • +3

It’s because he assumed the dials gender. Time to cancel this bigot.

        • Lol

  • I bought one from last deal to me it
    is frustrating item nothing else

    • How is the battery life?

      • +4

About one day, with a few things off.

        • that's disappointing

      • +1

        Keep charging everyday

        • +1

ok..so seems not much improvement from Gen 4 Explorist HR which I have and the battery life is the major turn off..just feels like a waste of money with such a shit battery

          • +1

@Avalanche: Very True save some more money buy Samsung or Apple

      • +1

With few unnecessary features turned off, it uses less than 50% per day on mine.

And I just charged it everyday. No issues.

      • Battery defo 2 days on Custom mode where most off the "battery draining" things are tuned off. Possible helpful hint: I put mine on charge in the car on the way to places and that way the craddle is always there in a power source.

    • +1

How? Have had zero issues using it.

    • Yeah I wore this watch for a week and sold it, constantly activated the assistant.
Frustrating watch that was not very intuitive

  • +2

Great price, trying to be an more conscious ozbargainer these days and not buying stuff I won't use.

Another smartwatch option, although don't think it has speaker or wifi?

  • +1

Can we make call or receive call or make google pay payment or listen to spotify (via this watch connecting bluetooth bud) if we leave the phone home ?

  • Don't forget extra $20 for new user and cb from sb/cr.

    • I don't think you can double-dip

      CR website says-
Cashback is ineligible if using store credit or gift cards as partial or full payment.
Cashback is ineligible when using codes not listed on Cashrewards.

      • I paid via SB and received notification of cb of $17 something.

        • +2

That notification does not mean it's a confirmed cashback

  • is that a standard 22mm strap?

    • +1

It is. I found the rubber strap annoying, swapped it for a metal one.

  • +2

bought one…not sure if I will wear it ho

    • +8

It's not nice to refer to people as Ho's

      • plot twist: op's name is Ho.

  • +7

Amazing watch, got mine on the last deal for the same price.
This model looks way better in person.

Just a heads up to anyone who has the speaker sound ticking issue…

    It's just a software bug.

Go into System Updates under About. If it doesn't show an update keep pressing the tick, 30 times max. If that doesn't work, exit and enter the same menu and hold your finger on the tick for up to 30 seconds.

After that, reboot a couple of times (if it still hasn't resolved the issue)

If still unresolved, leave it for a full charge and try the next day.

Mine took 2 days to kick in, working perfectly now

    • My speaker does not even work lol
Sorry i am not Anti Fossil but was expecting for RRP$499 Watch

  • Is there a charging stand for this? I don't mind charging it everyday if I can just easily pop it on a stand at the end of the day.

    • see description…
USB cable with magnetic charger snaps to rings on watch caseback and spins 360 degrees for ease of use. 50 minutes to reach 80%.

  • +3

Really happy with this watch, got 2 for $225 with the last fossil deal. Had a few teething issues trying to access some of the features due to Wear OS bugs but it has everything most people would need in an everyday smartwatch. I agree with the above comment, looks way better in person.

    • +2

Same. Can't complain for the price. Definitely looks better in person but once you see the black bezel, you can't unsee it!

      • This is true, beats the flat tyre on my old moto sport though!

    • How's battery life?

      • Have it on the daily mode with all features on, end the day with 40-60% so far. That includes a walk using the GPS, and heart rate measuring every 10mins throughout the day. So fairly good in my experience with Android Wear.

  • Anyone gone from an og Ticwatch Pro to one of these? Still moderately happy with with my laggy watch so just been waiting for a good deal on the Pro 3 but haven't seen anything come up (besides the student discount)

  • +1

If you prefer to purchase via Amazon, it is now available for the same price. I cancelled my order at Iconic and reorder via Amazon as I have $10 credit that is unused there. Even though $10 more expensive, but Amazon is very good in after sales service, just in case watch is not working as per expected within that 2 years period. With Fossil or Iconic, they are more likely to ask you to return the item for repair, etc, whilst Amazon, if they have stock, they will send a new one and hardly asking to return the faulty one. Or if they don't have stock, they will give full refund (most likely to return the faulty one) rather than repair.

    • Not seeing it on Amazon AU.
      Maybe it's gone.

      • It is quickly gone, possibly only left 1 or 2.

  • +1

Bought at last deal. Love it, happy to accept the compromises (e.g. charging every 1-2 days).

This is my first smartwatch since my pebble, still miss that lightning quick Pebble UI, great screen, and great battery…

I bought this to track my run without my phone, works well. I listen to podcasts with my BT earbuds paired to the phone while I'm out.

Took a couple of days to customise everything the way I like it - e.g. I don't want every email on my wrist. As much as people complain about Android Wear, it's fine. Apps are fine, UI is fine, battery is fine. At this price, it's a bargain. Looks good as well, I have a few chronographs that I wear, this is similar (noting the price bracket).

Happy to answer any specific questions.

    • So we can receive or make phone call without having to have the phone in your pocket; ie left at home ?

      • No you can not receive and make phone call without having the phone around with this watch. You will need a LTE version for that, which i think Fossil has recently announced.

        • Cheers

    • I listen to podcasts with my BT earbuds paired to the phone while I'm out.

Study, does this mean you can leave your phone at home and listen to podcasts from the phone whilst out of the house?

      • The watch is it's own device, so you need to make sure your podcasts are downloaded onto it when you're in wifi range. But yes, you can leave your phone at home.

  • Got mine from last deal too.

    Battery: 1 day.
Heavy usage during the day time (all features on)
    Work/Personal notifications.

Switch to "Extended battery mode" by dinner time. (It gives you a notification)
Still a fair few notifications, price tracking, msg etc…

Don't wear to bed, just leave it on desk.

Put on charge when I wake up (usually around 20% left), by the time morning routine is finished (~1.5h) the watch is back at 100%, ready for the day.

    No issue with speaker.

Only neg is the bezel between screen and case.

  • Thanks OP.
    Ordered via Fossil.
Upgrading from a very old Huawei Smart Watch.

At $150… decided to just take the plunge.
I'm used to the daily charging anyway with the old Huawei.

    • Yeah, I'm upgrading from the orginal LG G watch which finally died a couple of months ago…
I missed the last deal and used the 'notify me when back in stock' on the website, got a pleastant surprise this morning :)

    • same!
after an unfortunate trip to the pool my Huawei watch now needs recharging once every 6 hours :(
started the day sussing out switching to iphone XR and watch SE, then this deal comes along and saves me from a very expensive decision 🤣

      • replying to myself from yesterday
already have buyer's remorse since Google discontinued play music, which was the only way you could download offline music to Android wear.
switching to Apple can't come soon enough

  • Purchased 2 for $225 delivered in previous deal ($112.5 each, 50% OFF second item). Looked good, but first experience with battery was annoying. Left 100% charged at 11PM and found 8% left next morning at 8AM. Then tweeked a couple of things; turned OFF most of the battery consuming apps, also realised the charger has to be ON or remove the watch, other-wise the charger will drain the battery very quickly. Now looking for a Leather band. Overall good experience. Will started trying the second one from weekend.

    • did you find a reasonably priced leather band ? Mine have just turned up and not loving the silicon strap

  • Price is good, but I literally just came back form getting a refund from their Gen 5 Carlyle because it crapped itsemf on my before xmas and fossil just told me (through JB) that they don't know what is wrong or how to fix it nor can they get me a replacement… So… I'm gonna pass for now, not sure if the gen 5 garrett will be better.

  • I have a gen 4 HR with a cracked screen which was bound to happen given the complete lack of bezel to protect it.

Fossil Australia advised me that screen repair services are not available in Oz and the best they could offer was 50% off their exorbitant RRPs for a replacement.

No luck on finding parts myself either. I'd avoid this company if repairability is something you value

  • Fossil store has stainless steel version also on same price, which is $299 online.

  • Tossing up between this or something like a Fitbit Versa 2 (for a bit more) - anyone know anything about either?

  • Does anyone know if Google Pay can operate independently on this phone? So you can use your watch if you left your phone at home?

    • +1

Yes you can. It loads the card onto the watch. Super convenient.

      • How google pay will validate the payment without wifi or mobile data ?

        • It uses NFC to communicate with the eftpos terminal. Same way your card doesn't need network connection for a payment to go through

          • @stevem42: Yes but mobile payments use a token supplied by the bank. This token has a different expiry period based on the bank and if your token expires when off network the payment will not work.

Shouldn't be an issue if the watch connects at least once a day.

            • @wyrmy: Oh ok. Wasn't aware of that but makes perfect sense. Thanks

  • Anyone who has an Apple Watch tried this?

  • +1

Damn it….why did i log in here instead of going to bed…..now i have new watch coming and i'm pretty excited! Thanks OP (I think) :)

  • This or the Huawei Watch GT2 which was $190 on sale? No NFC on the huawei but much better battery life. Do love the look of this watch though..

    • I have a Samsung watch that I love, had it for 4 years. But it doesn't have NFC. I just love the idea of always having a payment backup literally on hand. If I buy a new watch, no NFC will be a deal-breaker.

It would be awesome if Wear supported passes like Myki in Victoria though…

      • Great point, thank you! Hope they get this back in stock.

      • I find google pay on wearos easier to use then samsung pay on tizen. Only had the watch a couple of weeks and used it many more times then samsung pay. I find samsung pay clumsy and hard to find the NFC chip when trying to pay.

  • Has anyone who bought the watch from this deal received dispatch notification?

    • Yeah, I did on Thu

    • yup on Friday :)

  • Got mine from amazon.
Looks nicer is real life , still prefer my full SS diesel 2.5 full guard in terms of looks

  • -3

Received mine today, it's absolutely awful. I'll be sending it back. Bit dissapointed

    • What awful ?

    • You get what you give. Username checks out

  • got mine not bad I'm liking so far, can someone tell why i cant see my text message contents but i see ever other app works like , messenger and whatsapp? i only get the notification but can read contents?

  • does allowing to preview messages on phone allows it to be show on watch?

  • I got this watch as an upgrade from the Vapor 2 in the July bargain from 2020.

This watch is actually a good version of that! The bigger face means there's a bigger battery, it does sleep tracking, and the UI is real snappy.

The speaker is cool. The performance boost of the 1GB RAM and 3100 is amazing compared to the 512MB RAM and 2100 of the last one.

But, there are some pretty large areas that are solid fails.

1 "OK Google" hotword detection doesn't work.

2 Sending a message with assistant doesn't work, neither does initiating a call. Apparently it's a permissions issue, but there doesn't appear to be a way to resolve it - you're prompted, but your choice doesn't do anything. (You can call on the watch, but you can't start a call with your voice).

3 I can't use the Google Assistant to turn my home lights on or off - it brings up a google search about lights instead. (My phone and Nest mini work fine).

4 Google Pay cards from the phone didn't all automatically get pushed over to the phone - I had to add them manually (Minor incovenience).

I do hope the issues get resolved, but the way WearOS development has gone recently has not been that great. For instance, I've heard that a fix came out in September for the SMS and Phone stuff I mentioned above, but it's up to the manufacturers to implement them. Fossil is the biggest seller of WearOS watches as far as I know, but the fix has not been implemented.

    • I have managed to resolve at least some of the issues by changing language to UK English

  • +1

It’s back in stock! OP you may want to revise the listing

    • Back out of stock again….

  • Is it normal to have the watch turned on by itself ? I turned it off every night and put on charger. Somehow it has turned on by itself in the morning and some occasion during the night even though my phone has also turned off during night. How to make sure it is off until I turn it on ?
