          • @booze101: I bought the D9 at release back in Nov20 and ended up returning to Gearbite who sent me the S5 Max at no extra cost (excellent customer service!).
With the S5Max no more software issues and has multi map, manual remote control and able to clean 1-3 times per room.
I kept waiting for D9 firmware updates but kept getting messed up maps and having to rescan etc. You buy these things to save time and not make life more complicated.
I wouldn’t keep waiting for D9 firmware updates - it was never ready for release and still sounds unreliable. Get the tried and tested Roborock series.

      • After using this for few weeks now… an update…
I though I am very lucky as it was quite easy to setup the device and map the house without any issues. I also customize the maps to my liking and was using it since last few weeks and was very happy with the performance. I thought unlike others who lost the saved maps and have to do remapping, I got a better device and won't face those issues.

But my happiness don't last long as it started to play around yesterday. First I lost the maps, which did come back after closing/opening the app few times, but was having some overlaps,

But when I start the cleaning process, instead of going to kitchen, it went to study, and I thought, I may have selected the wrong room. Stopped and started it again, and still it goes to study instead of kitchen, and then I realize that the maps has been messed up where it's base has been moved to another corner of the house and it don't recognize rooms correctly and lost itself and can't return to base.

I think the software still has bugs and it's random when you will encounter the issue. I am waiting for an firmware update as I need a multi map features, but not sure, should I wait or return this as don't have much confidence now as this bug will be ongoing/random in the future updates.

        @Gearbite any suggestion…

Is the filter / brush bar and side brush on the D9 the same as on the Xiaomi 1st Gen?

Anybody know what are they similar to? trying to bulk order them from China but appears that Dreame D9 isn't in China.

    • I ordered this for my D9
      https://a.aliexpress.com/_mN32OHh
Roller, side brush and mop cloth fit nicely.
      Filter doesn’t fit

    • We have in our gearbite.com.au.

      • Understood. But it is so much more expensive than getting it direct from China.

  • Will any of these have issues on slate floors? I'll be looking for one that can mop too so don't care about the 1st gen Xiaomi one.

  • Does Xiaomi Mi Robot 1st Gen allow for no-go zones in app?
I did some research online and some people say yes and some say no.

I do know you can use magnetic tape but rather not be taping up the place.

  • @gearbite how does the D9 compare to the Ecovacs Deebot OZMO 920 (will be on sale at Aldi soon for $399)?

    • +1

Biggest difference would be the suction. I believe the 920 is 1500pa.

  • Often the vaccum is showing as offline in the Xiaomi Home app, even though the wifi light is blinking. Anyone else encountered this?

  • Has the firmware being changed now? or still the same old

    • +1

We have been told that new Firmware has been submited to mi home, hopefully approve around 2-3 weeks time.

        • New update will be this Month, you can alway return if it can not fix by firmware update.

When will be running specials for S5 and S6 ?

    • thinking the same. Would love for either of those to be $400

  • any news on the Dreame updates?

any likely specials for S5 and S6 in the future?

  • @Gearbite
Bought the dreame D9 and seems to be working fine except for the mopping, it does not seem to be releasing any water or barely anything.

Manual says to clean the air hole, which I have but it's been an issue since the start, maybe done about 6 mops. Works fine till the pad dries out as you have to wet it first, once mop is over it looks like little to none of the water has come out the tank.

    • Please contact us at [email protected], they should able to help.

I have the same thing and have asked multiple times. Have the water set to high and still not enough to really mop the floor. I have tested by not wetting the cloth before hand, and all you get is 3 tiny dots of water on the cloth.

      • Yeah I tried the same thing then I even ran one without the mop pad and it released some serious of water for a few metres and then didn't release more water to it had done another 20m. Barely enough water on the highest setting to keep the mop from drying out

        • Whoops meant to write..

Released some droplets of water for a few metres and then it didn't release anymore water till it had gone around for another 20m

  • @Gearbite I've emailed you guys. My Dreame D9 is having issues with the unit.
    1. It isn't creating a full map, as it creates some of it, and it randomly thinks that the cleaning is complete (even with > 50% battery left)
    2. It doesn't clean in a uniform way, it goes in random circles and sometimes straight lines.
    3. I have tried to clear map / reset robot and recreate map, and sometimes it would only clean the area next to it within 2 meters then go back to base saying Map completed and cleaning completed.
    4. Sometimes it goes into a room and the doors are still open but it sits in the middle spinning then results in "Robot is stuck", checked everything and nothing is stuck.
    5. I have also upgraded the firmware.

My first Dreame D9 i purchased a few weeks ago didn't have any of these issues. Looks like QA issue.

    • Please contact our team at cs@gearbite regarding this, they will sort out quickly.

Just wanted to add to this conversation - I previous bought a vac from Gearbite and they have been absolutely fantastic in support.
The vac had a major fault a few months after I bought it, which they promptly fixed - by the time I had a second major fault recently they offered me another fix or a full refund.
Can’t fault their service and I’d happily buy from them again with confidence.

Thanks to Home Assistant, I can now co tell my vacuum with Google Home. Ok Google Start, Stop, Return to dock :)

Update for the D9 is out. From 1072 to 1082.

Only says bug fixes so probably still no Google assistant or multi map.

    • How’s the new update?

      • I reset the map before as it has mucked up again. Will have to see how it goes for the future.

    • @gearbite is this true that firmware 1082 does not have Multi-map? This was promised since November 2020 and even says on your comparison tables that "Upto 3 Map Via Firmware update Early March".

I haven't received 1082 firmware yet so hope what you've been telling everyone is true regarding multi-map functionality.

      • My app is still showing 1072 as the current/latest version.
How to get 1082? Will it auto update or manually have to uninstall/re-install the app to get the new version?

And yes, eagerly waiting for multi-map feature

        • Go.to device settings. At the bottom there is firmware update. I don't notice a difference except mine couldn't find home on the map. Need to re-map and see if it's a 1 off glitch. Interested to know if it's just me?

    • Wait, for real, no multi-map still? :) That is hilarious. I don't see how can we continue to trust Dreame and keep buying their products, when they are incapable of providing a feature they promised on launch. It is a simple software feature update, how hard can it be?

      • I haven't tested if it's there or not, but it seems like they would have put it in the update notes.

It does seem like they have made the area editor worse. I'm sure previously when you spilt an area you drew a line to make a room. Now you only get to pick the area and it tries to auto spilt it (badly).

Still no way to edit the map and delete an area either (like we have a lot of glass to the floor where it tries to map). Also a mirror really mucks it up and thinks the room is twice as large.

      • Firmware update should be available, i can update and have multi-maps in the map management section. Please try to remap if you have any problem.

        • +2

          How to update the firmware?
I checked multiple times under Settings->Firmware update and it's showing as…
"Current version is the latest, Current version 3.5.8_1072"

I deleted the app and re-install, but still same 1072. How to update to 1082 (or whatever new version is)?

          • @hothot: Maybe the people who have 1082 are still 'beta testing' to provide feedback to Dreame. Seems like new version makes it harder to split rooms up in app according to @kulprit

        • How do I get multi maps to show up?

Also the area editor is much worse and impossible to spilt rooms manually now?

          • @kulprit: Map management/ choose multi-floor map. Try to remap if have any problem.

            • @Gearbite: I definitely don't have that option on 1082

              • @kulprit: Looks like avaialble to some customers at this moment, should avaiable to all customers very shortly.

                • @Gearbite: Yep got it enabled now.

But you have to manually switch the map when using the multi map function?

  • @Gearbite while I was pretty happy before the upgrade. Now my D9 can not find home (even though I see it on the map). It searches around the house for awhile then stops at a random spot, and suddenly the Home icon is where it stopped. So it now thinks it's charging. In the middle of the floor. Any way to downgrade firmware? I've tried remapping twice.

Long shot but make sure the dock is plugged in.

      • Double checked.that too. When I pick it up and place it on the dock, it does charge

    • +1

Please check if you able to update to 1082. You can contact us at [email protected] if you have any problem.

I got the notification for update to 1082, but i'm hesitant to update as the vacuum has been working fine!

My issue seems to resolved itself. Go for it @berserkk
