  • Battery life any good?

Amazing. A week with many hours of gps activity is fine.

  • I may have grabbed this over my Fenix 6 pro had it been on sale back when the Fenix sales were on.

    • isn't the fenix supposed to be much better?

      • Fenix 6 is the same as the 945 except the Fenix has a metal body

        • Yeah that's what I thought! I want to buy badly but my 4yofenjx 3 is still a rock!

    • Not loving the 6 pro? I missed that deal so I'm waiting on it to come back up. I'd pick the 6 over this so I'm curious why youre not loving it? Size? Weight?

I do really like the fenix 6 pro but I find the current pace is very sporadic compared to my older FR235.
This could just be to do with the new Sony GPS chipset but from what I’ve read there is a bit of talk about the fenix GPS not being quite as accurate as the Forerunners.
The actual GPS track is fine and overall distance as well, just the instant pace.
Also it’s a little heavier than the forerunner which I’m used to now but it’s still occasionally noticeable when running.
Looks wise the fenix wins hands down to me but that’s just a personal preference.

I have an old Garmin footpod from many years ago that is now playing up or I’d use that for instant pace. I’d also be happy to buy a new Garmin footpod but they discontinued them and the only one I can find is the Stryd which is ridiculously priced at $359.

        • Yeah, spent the morning looking at this and the Fenix as a comparison.
Outside of the sturdiness of the bezel, mettalic looks and extended batt life of the pro, the internals, features and interface are the same. GPS accuracy and weight/wearability of the 945 are it's main wins.
Im not hard on my watches so it not being a metal bezel or sapphire isn't a big deal. Upgrading from instinct as I'm missing the multi sport and vo2 max sensors. Music and Garmin pay are nice to have too. Might opt for this I think based on your experiences too.
          Thanks Dan

  • I miss pebble :(
Market has room for another affordable, sensible useful smartwatch with week+ battery life again.
Only reason fitbit bought pebble was to kill pebble.
I suspect only reason Garmin bought fitbit will be to kill fitbit.
    What a wonderful capitalist world.
