[VIC] Free Parking until 17 Feb (Some Restrictions Apply) @ City of Melbourne

131

Free parking for a few days like previous lockdowns. Make sure you obey the rules outlined below.

The City of Melbourne is not currently collecting meter fees for paid parking in the municipality. This means parking is free in areas with green signs until 11.59pm Wednesday 17 February, but you still need to obey the time limits.

Restrictions for Disability Access bays and all red signs will continue to be enforced, such as Loading Zones, No Stopping, No Standing, Tow-Away Clearways and Resident Permit areas.

@gottacatchemall: it sounds like you live in an apartment in a city high rise and you think the outer suburbs is richmond / abbotsford

          • +3

            @gottacatchemall:

my pont was more so that hundreds of thousands of people live within 5km of the cbd.

Then they could just walk to the city as part of their 2 hour daily exercise…

    Wednesday 16th February?

Thats a typo on their website

  • Stops working on the day I go back to work in the office near docklands. Great!!

This is likely targeted to healthcare/hospital workers, not covetous bankers.

      • +2

        covetous bankers

        is that rhyming slang?

      • Yes we’re all bankers when forced to work in the city.

        • Forced means you're low level / slave status or someone's holding a gun to your head.

          • @TEER3X: Or you could just elect to get yourself fired.

(Some Restrictions Apply) - like the 5km limitation :(

  • -4

This is a highly targeted deal that is exclusively available only to those who reside within 5km of the city. At a minimum this should be marked as targeted.

    • Not really, there are legitimate reasons for people who live further than 5km actually go to the city such as essential workers…

      • -2

Still highly targeted. Hardly a deal.

        • -1

          Are you okay? Just checking.

        • By your logic that means a Hungry Jacks voucher deal is considered targetted cause vegans and vegetarians use it…

  • Can I bring my nebuliser with me which is very essential

    • Funny how the can pinpoint the reason and blame one person i.e someone else. The hotel is filthy and cleaning probably lacking.

Chalk up another failure to the state government, here we go again, another 6 month lockdown.

      • Wont be 6 months but more open and closed borders for rest of the year

      • Wasn't the whole reason the first Melbourne lockdown went on for so long the fact that they dithered waiting to see if it got out of control and in doing so let it get out of control?

Sounds like they're doing it properly and taking no chances this time, and the lockdown probably won't go on for long as a result. That's the way it's been in Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane, doesn't seem to be much reason to believe this Melbourne lockdown will be much different to those. I realise Melburnians have a degree of PTSD but that doesn't change the reality on the ground.
