  • Here for the screen comments! Haha. To be fair though 250 nits is pretty low, but then at this price the rest of the specs seem fair.

  • I have this laptop. Build quality isn't the best

    • -5

I was thinking about buying this for my school kid but reading reviews about the build quality, i changed my mind. you need something tough for kids and with good battery life. After some research I realized that XPS and Macbook are the best options with good battery and Macbook is better among them for school going kids. Considering all this, I spent more and bought a Macbook Air for $1439 yesterday

There are plenty of other options - commercial grade laptops like Thinkpads, Latitudes etc are much more robust and designed for a life on the road.

      • Most tech reviews have been really positive about this laptop and good value for money. Not sure where you have been reading those bad reviews from.

      • Xps laptops do not have good build quality. They feel nice to touch. They are not durable.

        • May be you are right but I have good experience with it. My 2012 xps is still working fine, no issue except battery lasts for 30 minutes but thats understandable after 8 years of full time heavy usage.

  • Bought a yoga 530 for the wife and in barely over a year the touchscreen no longer responds to touch, not sure on the quality of these things.

      Call for warranty?

      • over a year = out of warranty. I didn't think it should fail so early on considering my current asus is 9 years old still strong and I had previous Lenovos last into double digits so I didn't buy anything extended.

        • Was thinking about the ACL, which means that you can expect a more expensive device implies durability. Thus the life expected by a consumer would be beyond a year.

This review by MobileTechReview is better view of the laptop.

  • Cheaper on the education store if you have access to it.

  • Thanks OP for the update on the EDU store.
Grabbed it using 1 of the kids logins, using cashrewards it should drop it to $870.

  • Still looking for a hard case for this… Does anyone have any recommendations ?
