  • Looks to be single use according to the wording.
"Coupon is single use only, and must be surrendered to receive discount. "

    • Single use per VIP account.
I got the email w/ the same code.

    • They'll be alright and won't ask you to surrender your iPhone. Dw ;)

      • +2

Nope, I can confirm they took my iPhone

        • I'm not so sure that is necessarily a poor reflection on Spotlight

  • +8

Good luck finding a full priced item.

    • +7

*Good luck finding a full priced item not in the exclusions list.

      • Yeah, right? Gone are the days of getting anything decent at an awesome price!

  • +9

    Always over priced.

    • Same as Harris Scafe. Their sale prices are their full prices always.

    • FYI I bought one and it's pretty cool except for the design space sw. You make a nice svg in Illustrator then upload it and then download it, check the size and ensure it looks all good, click "make it" and it jumbles it up for you… like WTF!

You have to fart around in AI doing compound paths, and merging lines… then upload/download it a dozen times to Cricut to test. Once you've nailed the workflow it cuts good and pretty quick.

My whole house is full of psuedo Japanese decals now… gona make an Akira T-Shirt next.

just be careful with this, the Karen at the register did a price override on an item that was already 30% off and i paid full price for a full priced item (you can't see the screen and i just go into a fantasy land in my head when i have to deal with Karens so i wasn't interesting in interacting any more than necessary). i paid several dollars more overall on my receipt but i'd waste more in petrol going back and effort arguing about it asking to speak to the manager to not get the refunded difference anyway.

    • Lol. Honestly, some people’s children…

      • maybe you like being ripped off? i don't. i'm just informing of a way the employees can have you lose the discount.

she was abrasive from the moment i came to the register. i mentioned that the item was already 30% off but she was having none of it.

i can't understand the negs. you can't really argue with Karens when they have the power. i should have just walked out but then there's more effort to go to another store and go through it again.

        • +4

Lol. Seems like a sensitive topic and you’ve been ripped off on many occasions?

Given that the item was already discounted, and the coupon applies 40% off any single fully priced item, one would assume you would generally be aware of how much you should pay for said item after applying 40% discount to the full price (if the employee was willing to entertain retracting the already 30% off to apply your 40% coupon). With that said when handing over cash you’d know how much change to expect, or if paid by card the terminal clearly indicates how much is being transacted.

Personally I don’t get so blindly irritated by people to lose all rational thought processes. I think no skin off my back and that the world is made up of different kinds of people.

          Have a nice day :)

@OneJay: cynicalmike, more like cynicalkaren, am I right?

          • -3

@OneJay: LOL sensitive topic? maybe for you given that wall of insulting text you've just written.

here's the thing. when i go shopping i don't always calculate to the dollar what something is going to cost when i get to the register (shock horror) and sometimes i don't even look at the receipt until i get home (another shock horror)

i had multiple items and i gave Karen the benefit of the doubt in that maybe (despite her abrasiveness) she knew i get more of a discount by applying it to the much higher priced item.

rational thought process? i already went through that, my criticism is that the thought process of the b*tch behind the register was to mitigate my discount by forcefully applying it to the item that it shouldn't have been (costing me a few dollars). it was most definitely deliberate so i don't know how you can defend that.

i don't think you belong here really, this is a place where we warn other users of potential scams and there's been more blood over a measly dollar or two on shopback tracking.

i agree, the world is made up of all different kinds of people and it includes those that blindly respond to and defend the indefensible just because they have been insulted with some (valid) stereotypes and deliberately put the blame on the victim. i hate those people.

              rational thought process?

Not really, they're not your accountant. They don't work for you, they're not here to go out of their way to make sure you get the best deal. That's your job. If you want the voucher to applied to a certain item, then use your voice.
I don't think you understand what 'Karen' is, or your delivery is incredibly lacking.

If you want the voucher to applied to a certain item, then use your voice.

I did, and she brushed me off. Again, I gave her the benefit of the doubt (and I really saw the attitude on her, I can't be bothered going through an unpleasant exchange where I'm sure I'll be accused of everything). Again, this was clearly just a way to get me to pay more, probably a storewide incentive or on her own accord because she is familiar with the vouchers (and she seemed to be).

I don't think you understand what 'Karen' is

Actually I do, it's not always reiki crystals and bobcat haircuts. Sometimes they work in customer service and sometimes gasp they are the manager.

all I'm doing is warning people of dodgy tactics to mitigate the discount but heaven forbid I use a little slur to describe her.

                  @cynicalmike: Tip : do 2 seperate transactions.

                  • -2

@Ughhh: there's a human element involved ie. Karen*

(the line at the front of the store was probably a 10-15min wait)

*i can't believe i have to repeat myself again.

                    • -1

@cynicalmike: You keep going on and on and yet I Still can't work out what your problem is. The item was already 30% off and what, you asked them to mark it up to full price so the discount would then apply to that item?

                      • -3

                        @Hintswen:

no, i didn't. i asked Karen to apply it to the full priced item so i would get more of a discount overall and she refused and applied it to the item that was already 30% off.

clearly comprehension isn't your strong point.

If you buy something that is by the metre, eg elastic, and I wanted to buy 10 meters, would it be 40% off 10 meters or 40% off 1 meter and 9 meters at full price?

    • +1

If this item is put as 1 x 10 meters by an operator, it should be 40% off the total rather than 40% off 1 meter.

      • Can you buy the whole roll at 40% off?

        • I guess so! Good to ring them and ask! :)

      • Buy it by the meter 👌

    • I'm a VIP member too but have never received a single email. Checked my junk folder and added spotlight to my address book to no avail. I never received the VIP card either. I even selected 'mail me a new VIP card' but did not receive that. Spotlight really doesn't like me!

      My condolences.

    • Let us know if it goes through with the discount.

  • Damn wtf -_-

  • Dunlopilo?

  • It’s 30% off store wide today so I ended up getting stuff on the exclusions list on a discount!!!

  • I got a Singer sewing machine at 40% off, it was marked down as a VIP sale on the site. Its shipping from Tamworth, I'm surprised as I wasn't really expecting it to go through. Didn't even need a coupon.

  • Used it today. Was bit of a technical battle to get it applied (had to be manually applied in the end all the massive queue building up behind me).

  • I went to my Local Spotlight at Fountain Gate, selected my Item, stood in a long line at the register to be told I needed the coupon printed out - they would not take it from my phone even though I could show them it was emailed to me. I will have to go back with a printout.

  • Spotlight have these mini dollhouse kits that work with the coupon - $36 reduced from $60

  • i used it in store at the end of a transaction for a quilt cover set that was full price. the cashier said they needed to do it manually and ended up taking 40% off the total invoice including other sale items too! ended up getting about 600$ worth of bedding (sheet set, quilt set, pillows, memory foam topper) for 284 lol!
