LG CX OLED 48inch Smart TV $2650 + Shipping @ VideoPro

140

Not much cheaper than RRP $2799. It’s something still. Been looking for a LG CX 48inch deal for a while, very frustrating that only limited retailers selling with limited stock, and the pricing point doesn’t make sense comparing to CX 55inch. I’m still holding off for a bigger discount or new model but hey someone may want to buy now. Shipping to NSW is $85.

Gah, this is tempting. I’ve wanted one of these for my computer since they were announced, but it’s probably just too big for my workspace ☹️

    • +2

I know mate. I too want it for my workspace and PS5 gaming. Definitely will buy one around $2000 but probably I’m dreaming. It’s big so I need a bigger desk and sturdier vesa arm. It means more money on the top.

      • trust me when I say this. Sony x900h 75inch $3500 will more then make up for it if you're looking for ps5 gameplay. Extra inches and more cash left in your wallet. CX is a beautiful looking tv but sitting here playing Demon Soul's on the x900h is a thing to behold. No regrets

Oh I trust you and upvote you for the choice. I have a 75 inch Sony X950H, which doesn’t have VRR tho.

          • +1

@AussieGargain: VRR is still coming to the x900h. They're just taking they're sweet arse time. Thumbs up to you good sir 👍

I was so eager to get the 48" model, even at this price as that is all that would fit but it looks like due to its popularity and ramp up in production their could be a newer lower cost one coming soon-

Considering how well the 48" kept selling out in Australia hopefully LG Australia will bring in the next model.

Ya joking right? C9 OLED 55" was $1712 and a better tv.

    • +3

I hope I’m joking mate. I want smaller size and VRR 4k+120hz for WFH and gaming. This tv ticked all the boxes except the price. And I don’t see much of discount anywhere for since launched in AU. Frustrating indeed.

    • Keyword was, we haven't seen really good OLED deals in a long time. Seems like those days are over :/

      • +2

Well if you buy at these prices then they'll never be $1712 again.

If you stop buying then they'll be forced to discount

        • +1

or if a market doesn't buy certain types of goods, then the importers stop importing those goods to that market as obviously there is demand for those items (info: I worked in computer wholesaling. Items which didn't sell weren't imported any more)

Not everyone wants or can fit a bigger TV into a space.

I comparatively overpaid for a Samsung 43-inch 4K because a much cheaper 50 or 55 inch would have been too large for the room. Zero regrets, the 43-inch was the perfect size.

His argument is more about the price than the size.

Now if only the 65" would be cheaper than the 55" because some can't fit 65" in their setup…

    • How is it a better tv if it wont fit where you need it? Obviously if u can fit a 55 or 65, you dont buy the 48. This doesnt always work though. Not everyones use-case is the same. This is already slightly too big for my pc monitor, but it was better than a 55, so i got it on singles day last year for a bit less than this. Even at this price though its a bargain compared to any PC monitor with comparable picture quality. With a bit of care and common sense, you should be able to avoid any premature burn-in too. (i hope!)

I would jump on such an offer now if it was available. But we're in different times. It was definitely better value but those prices aren't available anymore. And sometimes pricing doesn't scale proportionately to size. It might be harder to manufacture the smaller screen than the bigger. I'm just taking guesses, but there could be factors in manufacturing which make smaller things more expensive to make, not less expensive.

Almost bought this from JB the other week and now I'm glad I didn't. Grabbed one, thanks OP!

Vince Theo from HDTV test says LG is making tons of these panels and prices will drop soon.

  • I don't know why these are so popular when a curved ultrawide is so great for desktop gaming, and sitting 3 feet from a 48" screen is so awkward.

    • OLED, VRR well balanced TV/Monitor.

    • Why is it awkward? That's like saying sitting 20 metres from a cinema screen is awkward, I don't get your meaning, it's not a touch screen. I sit close to that from my 43 inch 4k and I think 48 will be the sweet spot.

      • Sitting too close to a panel this size will make the edges fee oddly distant.

Switching from a 38-inch ultra wide to a 32-inch 16:9 was more challenging than I realised when I did it last year. Where everything on the ultra wide felt equidistant, the less-wide flat panel feels oddly distorted. Ideally I’d sit further back but need to reorganise my desk setup.

        • you're not wrong, It is slightly too big as a PC monitor for me, 43" would have been perfect. You really do get used to it very quickly though, and if its a issues for you, there is probably software that would allow you to keep windows more centered so you dont have to read text at the edge of the screen. In gaming it has been fine though for me.

        • I'm not sure why people are assuming you're going to sit 3' away from this 48" screen.

Do people only buy TVs to use as desk monitors? This is a perfect bedroom TV.

        • But it's 48 inches. It's like saying 1.5 feet from a 24" screen is awkward even though it's a very normal setup.

  • i would buy if you could raise the display so a PS5 can fit under the screen. I don't have space on my desk for both.

To think the bigger 55” C9 was $1000 cheaper than this 12 months ago

  • Shipping cost to Perth: $395. Damn!

  • +1

waiting for 65” in this price…😇..

  • Isn't the C1 around the corner? If you are not in a hurry, wait a couple more months so they release the 2021 models and get a price drop.

    • I get a feeling the C1 48" will not release till late in the year just like the CX 48". You'll be waiting a while.

It makes no sense to replace the CX 48" with the C1 48" when the CX has been on the market such a short time.

If I hadn't just bought a PS5, I wouldn't even be considering this at all. Today I went to a JB to try and see one but they didn't have it.

  • Do these TVs have a powerful enough headphone amp to run good headphones, or will you need an amp?
