Seagate 5TB Backup Plus Portable HDD Blue $149 + Delivery or Free C&C @ Umart

130

Seagate STHP5000402 5TB Backup Plus Portable HDD Blue
Model Number: STHP5000402

Includes USB A cable and USB A to USB C adapter
Has free backup software
Does not have data recovery of the newer 'one touch' model.

Page claims 1 year warranty but seagate webpage says 3 years. Local stock so slightly more expensive ($10) than amazon US pricing, but you won't need to deal with international warranty etc.

Previously mentioned here but now back in stock as Flash Sale for 4 days or until sold out.

Delivery was $7 standard and $13 express for my area, so not super pricey either.

  • If in no hurry, wait for it to go on sale at Amazon.

    FYI these are shuckable

    • Do you know the height of the drive?

      • I'll measure this afternoon.

        • Thanks, appreciate it. I'm thinking it's probably 15mm but hopeful it's 12.5mm.

          • @Spellbound: Sorry for the delay mate. Hard to get an exact measurement, but they look dead on 15mm, definitely no less.

            • @matictac: Thanks for that, I suspected it would be however hopeful it wasn't. It definitely won't fit in my laptop then!

The black 5TB is $143.63 on https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07VS8QCXC?th=1 with free delivery. You can use Amazon mobile app to buy it at $133.63 with $10 off.

    • Click n collect from hub

    • Slightly different models. Expansion vs Backup Plus, and the newer One Touch are all diff.

  • I bought a 4tb red version from Harveys in dec for $138, 2 weeks later it died. Cost me $10 to get it back to Seagate in Sydney. They then shipped me a Recertified drive from china which took 2 weeks, but it was a 5TB.

Ooft idk about about a replacement HDD….

    • Why didn't you just take it back to HN?

      • told me I had to send it to seagate

Just demand a refund, its not fit for purpose.

Thats illegal. They sold it to you so they have to handle the warranty by law. Really disgusting service for a big store to be doing that, especially when you are paying the hn premium.

  • What is back up plus?

    • Version which comes with software to do automatic backups.

  • Over 30 years in IT Seagate=disk failure (same with Hitachi)

  • Is it Shuck-able?

    • Better off getting the cheaper expansion one linked in the comments as it just doesn’t come with the software which you probably won’t need.

  • Have always avoided Seagate because of past failures. Has that changed these days or is it still a sus brand. I'm interested in these mainly because shuckable. But warranty bis void once you do that. As far as I know these are the only shuckable USB drives left on the market. Any comments?
