Acer EG0 23.8" 165Hz FHD IPS FreeSync Monitor $198 + Delivery (C&C/ in-Store) @ Harvey Norman

150

First post, this great budget monitor is for sale at its usual discount price again (take that for what it's worth).

More detailed specs for anyone that needs to know weight and exact dimensions.

Bought one around xmas for kiddo and it has been fantastic, picture is great and sits beautifully on an NB F80 monitor arm.

Wanted to mention that ours included a note from Acer detailing their pixel warranty - replacement should be a breeze with HN if you run into issues and run it straight back, and if it's not just rub this in their face and I'm sure it will be :)

Our first one had a single dead pixel bang in center of screen issue so took it back to HN, checked the second one while there and it had a few stuck/bright ones (hopefully just unlucky) but the 3rd one was perfect, easily recommend it for the price.

  • So this has regular VESA 100 Mount or something? After a monitor for missus and this looks great for the price! Need to grab some decent cheap monitor arms to go with it!

    • +1

Yep it fits a regular VESA 100x100. The NB F80 is a very popular monitor arm on here and gives a good range of adjustability with a light screen like this.

      • +1

Yeah sorry just waking up and bit doughy. Yeah I had a google of the monitor arm and it looks solid. Trying to decide what to use for a triple monitor setup from their line but NB seem damn cheap for the price so will give them a whirl too!

  • What panel does this use

  • Acer or Samsung curved? At $229 in HN as well

    • +1

      Acer makes better monitors.

      • +3

I've usually known Acer to be an "economy" brand that makes cheaper products that work decently but are not as good as others on the market

Do you think in monitors, they are better than Samsung though?

        • +1

Uh.. heard of the Predator lineup? But yeh, a brand can produce ones across the whole range.

          • @brilliantmik: Yeah I have, that's their top of the line gaming monitor. However I think for their other monitors, they aren't that good tbh

  • Only problem I have with this is the stand.

  • This is another similar monitor by Acer. Can any one tell.me which is better, https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/acer-nitro…

    • +5

      “75hz vs 165hz”
      Bruh…

      • My bad. Why call it gaming monitor.

  • I would highly recommend you get this instead,

1440p 144hz, can also claim $50 steam voucher, so you're paying around $200 for this (delivered).
It's not IPS, but it's a decent monitor judging by reviews.

    • +2

IPS is just too good for colours and angles and some people might not have the GPU to push 1440p at high fps. Both are solid but completely different. And curved is crap. And so is Kogan.

      • It's AOC brand not Kogan.

        • +1

Sold by Kogan. Edit AOC is great though.

      • LOL what do you mean "too good"…. Also you can just change the resolution in settings so it makes more sense to get an OP monitor and downgrade.

        • +1

Too good to choose VA or TN for contrast, sure can run lower resolution if you want. It is apples to oranges, both the suggested ones are good for different reasons.

    • +1

      how is this $200? i'm seeing $599?

  • -4

Seems expensive for a 23.8” monitor.

    • +3

If the 165hz means nothing to you then this monitor isn’t for you.

    • +1

Small can be better for pixel density. Picture sharpness and PPI trumps size imho

  • +1

Have owned the AOC 24G2 (first version), Alienware AW2521HFL, and this EG0 and gotta say it holds its own against the other two - great price for what you get.

  • cant find any blur/motion test on this model :|

  • +1

I’d advise anyone interested in this to go in store & look at it in person, all I can say is the pictures make it look better than what it actually is.

    • Totally agree that checking out any monitor before buying one is ideal, but surprised by your comment as it exceeded my own expectations, especially for the price - curious what you didn't like about it?
