Help!@ are Zavvi trying to rip me off?

hey guys i ordered a bluray box set from zavvi(x-men quadrilogy) with the 10% off from here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/59614 and i just received it today, but it's the dvd version! i clearly remember ordering the light blue coloured box from the bluray section because i was using the search function for the cheaper blurays, and this was the cheapest box set in blurays, problem is i checked my invoice, it says the dvd version and i didn't take a screenshot of order page as i normally do with "iffy" retailers since i ordered from zavvi before, so has this happened to anyone else? any tips on how to handle it? i don't think it would be worth the return postage back to the UK(unless zavvi pay for postage), and the xmas gift giving season is over so i can't give it as a gift anymore-arggghhhh!

  • Credit card chargeback! Or so I was told anyway.
I had a similar problem when they only sent me 1 out of the 2 items I ordered and charging extra shipping.

  • Considering I've never had a bad experience, I'd say you just accidentally ordered the dvd version.

  • Everytime I've ordered from them, I've received an electronic copy of the order/invoice emailed to me from [email protected]. It quite clearly says the description and price of the items ordered. The dispatch notification email from the same address has less details, i.e. just the title, but doesn't say if it is DVD or BD, or which games platform it is for in the case of games. Have you checked your emails for that order notice? Also check your deleted mail folder if you haven't emptied it. If you've deleted it locally, perhaps your ISP has webmail access, and you have your email program set up to leave a copy on the server (until they pester you to delete something to make more room), you may be lucky.

You must have completely missed the part of the OP where it says "problem is i checked my invoice, it says the dvd version" ????

Did you PAY the price of the DVD or BR version?

And have you actually tried contacting the company to ask if they can help? You seem to be making all sorts of doomsday predictions about being ripped off, etc yet you haven't even given them the chace to check and respond to you.

    • no i haven't sent them an email yet, that's why i posted here first to get an idea on how to handle it, i've ordered once before from zavvi and it went fine
re invoice, ok, i checked the paypal invoice, just the one item, xmen quadrilogy bluray, with the 10% off inc shipping total 9.04 pounds, no description at all-damn!
dispatch email from zavvi just says "1 X-Men Quadrilogy GBP 8.05 10-15 days*" nothing about dvd or bluray(how convenient for them!)

      invoice from zavvi themselves
      X-Men Quadrilogy - DVD In stock | Usually dispatched within 24 hours £8.95 1 £0.00 £8.05
      10% off most wanted 1 -£0.90
      Total Delivery Cost: £0.99
      Total: £9.04

but as i said before, i double checked it was the light blue coloured box as in bluray version, i am 100% i clicked on the bluray version

as for chargeback, it was paid with paypal, i could open a 'not as described' complaint but when i submit the invoice wouldn't paypal just baulk and say "tough nougies you ordered the dvd and that's what you got" right?!

      • I feel for you man. The same thing happened with me and DVD.co.uk. I could of sworn that I bought the PS3 version but ended up getting the XBOX version =/. I didn't bother contacting them, I just sold my copy on eBay.

As for your case, I'd open a ticket and try and reason with them. You may not have much luck but try and argue a case to have your postage back to them refunded. Don't threaten them with PayPal just yet… the strongest card you have is the one you've yet to play. If they keep wasting your time, then lodge a PayPal dispute (probably won't have much luck there either).

Big company vs Little Guy =/. Just hope that they aren't assholes.

Actually I didn't, I took that to mean the printed copy that came with the item. That's why I suggested looking for the detailed email they send you when you first order. If it said bluray there, they have obviously made a mistake in packing, and sent a DVD with a mistaken paper invoice. Otherwise it would probably show that you made a mistake and perhaps should have picked it up at the time. I would agree that the first thing to do is actually try to contact the company and discuss it.

  • its been 25 days since they said they sent Fifa 12 to me and it hasn't arrived, what do i do now??? i can't find a link to email them, is the only way to tell them to call them???

    • +1

Zavvi won't reply for a few days. Their customer service is deadset appalling.

To contact them, log into your account and then click on 'My Account' in the top right corner. Then go to 'Create New Message' on the left panel to contact them. With any luck, they will respond within 48 hours. Seriously good luck though, because the last time I asked them about the authenticity of the Sony headset, it took them over 5 working days to contact me back (by then the sale was over, ffs).

    • It's the Christmas period, things take much longer to arrive. If it doesn't arrive in another week, then you should be worried.

      • ^ This. And add to that fact that the workers at Australia Post are deadset bludgers. Laziest guys in the world hiding behind a powerful union.

    • I didn't get a game from since 15th of november. Just email them, they are very understanding. Go to my account in Zavvi and look at order history and click on your order.

  • Most items tend to spend some time in Brussels , from zavvi

  • Your PayPal receipt states that it was a blueray that you paid for? If its the only item you ordered then they should have no problem tracking it down.

    • as i posted above, emailed paypal receipt shows no details on item, just amount and date of transaction, and i just logged into my paypal account hoping to get more info, no luck, would you believe there's a ton of info like dates, total amounts, gst, transaction numbers blah blah blah but NOTHING on the actual item! it seems paypal only gives detailed info if you paid for an ebay item, otherwise, go fish!

anyway i sent a message to zavvi using the 'create new message' link, but i didn't say i got the item, i asked about the receipt and the fact if says dvd and not blu ray, let's hope if i can nip this in the bud early i can get a quick resolution, cheers to all who posted here!
