why is this a deal for us?

    • RRP $160?

      • +1

Who sells them for that price??? And who else in Oz sells them? There aren't even any reviews. Recommended price in US is $80 but sells for $50.

        • It is still a bargain compared to $50 isn't? Coleman is a well-known quality outdoor goods brand. Just because no one sells them in OZ doesn't mean that they are not good. I bought a pair and I m going to find out. If you are not convinced, you really don't have to buy. Funny people get so argumentative against someone posting a genuine bargain on the site. I don't earn a commission from their sales.

        • dude, no need to get aggro… he's asking legitimate questions.
asking who sells them and for how much is a pretty big part of judging a bargain imo…. and that info wasnt included in your bargain post. all that it really says is a copy and paste of the shoe description- not why its a bargain, so you are going to get questions justifying it.

this is even more important on a product no one has any idea on and cant find any extra info on online.

since there arent any reviews online, maybe since you bought some yourself you can be the first!

          but chill…. its christmas ;).

RRP IS NOT $160!!! Nowhere is that listed - it is just a con.

      • Certainly not a criticism of you. I think it sounds like a great price. Maybe too good for a 100% waterproof membrane shoe. Hope you enjoy them though.

Its just that a RRP on a product only sold on a bargain site is rarely anywhere near accurate. Australian RRP is set by the manufacturer, but ColemanAustralia do not list this product, nor do any Coleman site. As the product is not sold in Australia, except by this site, 1Day may just make up the RRP. There are laws against that behaviour.

Just suspicious when there are no reviews & can't find on Coleman sites.

(Have bough bargain shoes represented as manufactured by reputable overseas manufucturer, only to find a fake with all the box & tags the same as the original. Luckily the business gave me a refund but never denied the allegation that it was a fake. Hence my caution.)

      • BUYER BEWARE!!!!
The seller is a bit tricky - says "Why pay $159.99?"

Why not $1M? Buyers would then know they were taking the piss, but at '$159.99' - that sounds like a believable price for a reputable shoe. And what a saving!

But since $29.99 + post is the normal price the only Australian seller (1Day) has sold at before, well…

'$159.99' is not a RRP, just a shonky sales trick to con buyers that these shoes ever sold for that price! So evades prosecution!!

  • You have to ask why the wholesaler/importer is using 1-day to dump them.
Anybody tried them on? I'd be very afraid of ordering based sole-ly on the stated size.

  • Actual online retail price is generally $50 to $60. Can't see any reviews.

  • These are described at http://www.outdooroutlet.com/product/Coleman/Redstone%20.php as "The Chuck Norris of hiking shoes. Durable, Waterproof, and Ready for anything!" LOL I'm no fan of Chuck, so wouldn't want to wear him!
That seems the only other business to sell these shoes. Could not find any reviews!
Same 1Day.com.au deal at this price on 13 Oct at The Bargain Avenue.

      dont diss Chuck man….

Chuck Norris was fully developed after one week of pregancy.

Chuck Norris puts the fun in funeral.

Chuck Norris doesnt eat honey, he chews bees.

      • LOL But will Chuck seek revenge for me putting a foot in his face?
So my shoes won't sleep either - just waiting for me - now I am scared.

Chuck Norris once punched a man so hard his children were dizzy.

All men are created equal…. equally inferior to Chuck Norris.

seems like a good price for a good hiking shoe. i have always just worn runners and thats not so good for long walks. $30 sure beats paying $130+ for a pair of The North Face boots at Anacondas.

    • North Face - you pay for the brand & image. See too many people in Japan, South Korea, etc posing in them on the way to the shops. These shoes are no North Face, but who cares. These shoes cry out Chuck Norris.

(Anaconda sales prices aren't too bad, but not as cheap as this.)

But shonky or ill fitting footwear are the worst thing on long hikes. Buying hiking shoes no one knows anything about on the Internet is risky in that regard (not matter what the price). Met people on the 5-6 day Overland Track (Tassie) in thongs! (Maybe good in the mud? But they lasted the 75km.) Most hikes are great in runners - generally better cushioning. Hiking boots are to give support, etc - like on rocks & carrying a heavy pack. These mid-cut shoes are suited to short hikes as they say (probably lack much support) but look like they would better suit city use. By the photos, I doubt the tread would handle rough terrain. Waterproof membrane is generally only good for puddles & unexpected light showers. If not wearing gaiters, the shoes just fill up in the rain & take longer to dry (from experience in Scotland). But, some people insist bare foot is the only way!

But be aware of the advice above, good luck, & enjoy hiking with Chuck.

  • Choose carefully as 1Day do not accept any refunds or exchange, unless you prove the item is faulty or were mislead in any way ('better get a lawyer').

I don't recommend to buy these shoes, i bought a pair last deal, it's not comfort at all, better off go to shops try out some best fit.

    • Thanks for the feedback from someone who has worn these shoes. Pity, as it is a good price. I guess most people won't be buying these for much hiking, so comfort will be important.

Proper hiking boots are not designed for comfort, no matter what the price. I have ones worth hundreds - fantastic in rough mountain terrain - where 1 slip can mean serious injury, but am glad to be out of them in the city.

"Long wearing rubber outsole" = hard, no comfort - like driving on city roads with hard 4WD tyres designed for rocky roads vs soft, comfortable city tyres.
