They are half price after every three months from Chemist warehouse which is much cheaper option

  • Does this stuff even work? Is Regain the same as Rogain?

Use Finasteride tablets, skip this. Has worked perfectly fine for me for many many years.

The Hair places suggest both at huge ongoing costs, in my experience completely unnecessary.

Can confirm finasteride is the way to go, and has worked very well.

What about the side effects! Difficulty in achieving an erection!

        Side Effects

Tell your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible if you do not feel well while you are taking FINASTERIDE-1MG.

FINASTERIDE-1MG helps most men with male pattern hair loss, but it may have unwanted side effects in a few men. All medicines can have side effects. Sometimes they are serious, most of the time they are not. You may need medical treatment if you get some of the side effects.

Ask your doctor or pharmacist to answer any questions you may have.

Tell your doctor if you notice any of the following and they worry you:

difficulty in achieving an erection that continues after stopping FINASTERIDE-1MG
less desire for sex that continued after stopping FINASTERIDE-1MG
decreased amount of semen released during sex (this decrease does not appear to interfere with normal sexual function).

It is important to understand that, in clinical trials, these unwanted effects disappeared in men who stopped taking FINASTERIDE-1MG, as well as in many men who continued treatment.

Problems with ejaculation that continue after stopping medication have been reported infrequently. Tell your doctor if you notice this and it worries you.

Male infertility and/or poor quality of semen have been reported infrequently. Improvement in the quality of semen has been reported after stopping FINASTERIDE-1MG.

Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following:

        breast swelling and/or tenderness
In rare cases, male breast cancer has been reported.
breast lumps, pain or discharge from the nipples.
        skin rash, itchiness
hives or nettlerash (pinkish, itchy swellings on the skin)
        testicle pain
        blood in semen
depressions (feelings of severe sadness and unworthiness) including suicidal thoughts

These are uncommon side effects that have been reported with FINASTERIDE-1MG.

Tell your doctor immediately or go to accident and emergency at your nearest hospital if the following happens:

swelling of the lips, tongue, throat or face

These may be symptoms of a serious allergic reaction to FINASTERIDE-1MG, which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing. You may need urgent medical attention. Serious side effects are rare.

          Breathing air has side effects.

          I haven't had any issues.

Like you copied, 'All medicines can have side effects'

Like everything, speak with a doctor, preferably a few, and don't go to these hair loss places, they are filthy disgusting people who make you feel miserable to try and hook you on for thousands a year.

          • @scuderiarmani: No issues now but later watch out. Specially with enlarge prostate.
            Just shave your hair.

          • @scuderiarmani: I was on finasteride and my testicles started hurting every now and then. Decided to stop finasteride to see if that was the issue, and it hasn't happened since. I know that every person is different, but just thought I'd share my experience for anyone reading. It is worth trying because you can always stop if you experiencing any side effects.

I just use regaine now. If i still lose hair, then it just wasn't meant to be for me.

      • How to get these tablets? do you need a prescription for it? what's the normal cost every 30 days

        • +1

Doctors script, don't take advice from me, speak to your GP.

The prices varies significantly depending on the chemist.

  • Works like a dream :)

The active Ingredient is Minoxidil! So I buy from eBay for lot cheaper. Three months supply for ~30 dollars!

    https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p204767…

  • Does it work?

    • +1

Well, if it did, presumably the wealthy wouldn't need to resort to transplanting hair follicles from elsewhere. :(

      • fair argument.

      • Not necessarily. It works but it’s a slow burn to see results and even then sometimes it doesn’t work. Transplant gives you results straight away.

I take low dose finasteride and minoxidil orally and 6 months in I can really tell the difference.

        • Where do you get the combined oral meds from?

          • +1

@dd8889: Was prescribed it through Pilot.com.au

  • I heard once you start with these products, you can't stop or you get a worse baldness as a side effect.

    How true is that?

    • +3

Don't know about worse, but it will just regress.

At best these products seem to slow the natural progression.

  • +3

This is the sign you have been waiting for.

    Just shave your head

    • +3

Or not shave your head and live with whatever nature has given you

Just buy the Kirkland brand Minoxidil off eBay. A heap cheaper.

    • if you buy the topical solution, yes, but I cant find the foam for cheaper than this.

6 months of foam (kirklands brand) on ebay is almost $150. So this is cheaper because you need to compare similar products.

FYI for those reading, foam absorbs better than the topical solution (or so I've been told by the pharmacist).

  • Works for me, taking the Finasteride tablets and applying Minoxidil.

  • What about topical Finasteride? Does anyone know if that is less likely to cause side effects and has anyone used it?

    • Read the comments above

      • none of them mention topical

I seriously read once that a type of hair replacement product was making people sexually attracted to animals. I have no way to know if there is any truth to it.

I came across two Melbourne-based doctors who specialised in hair loss and have a podcast aimed at addressing common questions while explicitly avoiding selling of services.

At the least it can inform on why hair loss happens, and the range of options out there!
