Have the 34 Inch ultrawide version of this and love it!

Dell S2721DGF is better and cheaper

More of the same really. Worth jumping in here to point out that people overestimate the response time capabilities of IPS at 144+ Hz:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Zmxl-Btpgk

Good explainer video for the layman, but as you can see in the ultimate results, previous response time testing (and manufacturer listed specs) ignored how IPS performs as it returns to 0 (black), and you can see that it creates a clear powdery trail in today's panel variations and implementations.

TN is still very much king for 144 Hz+ if you're interested in motion, and if Samsung can take the magic of the G7 240Hz VA panel to other monitors, IPS falls back to being the choice most people only make when they need to be colour accurate with sRGB work.

I have one of these but paid a lot more for it, it's a great monitor.

The Dell monitor that Ozbargain loves, the SDG:$-3(2 whatever the heck it's called, is cheaper and better. IIRC they use the same LG Nano IPS panel, but the Dell is better tuned and has a higher refresh rate

    • Dell monitor is S2721dgf I believe.

Just in case anyone is looking to use a monitor arm with the dell above, make sure the arm will suit a recessed VESA mount. It's not flush with the rear.

    • The Dell is faster at both 60Hz and 144Hz and has a 165Hz mode over DP. Really no reason to go for the LG although it's still a fine monitor. Although, if you plan to use the Dell on PS5 or PS4 you'll be stuck at 1080p (no 1440p support via PS5/PS4 and no 4K downsampling via the monitor). On Xbox the Dell is perfect (1440p, 120Hz, FreeSync all over HDMI). I'm not sure if the LG can support 1440p on PS5/PS4 through 4K image downsampling, can anyone confirm?

I have the LG one and it accepts 4k signal from my PS4

    • is the current $519 a good price for the Dell 2721DGF?

      • It's available from Dell's website for $480 + 10% cash back at cash rewards, so $440. Or $480 on Dell's eBay store / $470 with eBay plus

      • +2

Use the "LOVEKEANU" code on the dell website + Cashrewards 10% brings it down to approx $430.

        • Is the 10% with cashrewards or shopback?

          • @mandelbrot: 10% with cashrewards, although I think I saw shopback introduced a 10% to dell.

But I've had less troubles and data breaches with cashback than shopback, so I go with cashback when I can.

            • @huggsymersh: Weird. I'm only seeing 'up to 6%' on cashrewards, with 3% for monitors.

              • @mandelbrot: damn, they changed it. I ordered yesterday and got 10%.

At least the shopback route is still available. Not sure if you've used them before, but I run a separate browser with no add ons / ad blockers that may interfere with their tracking cookies. I think some people have said the app works better than browser but I'm no expert on this.

        • thanks, signed up to Cashrewards and purchased from the Dell site.
Never used Cashrewards before, hopefully it all worked out -_-

I just bought this and it arrived yesterday it's amazing omg yes!

  • I have two of these monitors. great 1440 (2k) monitor. 144hz

best price at black Friday was $650

4k 144hz one is LG 27gn950 for approx $1500 also amazing.

  • Is this 1080p?

    • +2

      1440p (i.e. 2K)

  • -4

Why would one choose this over the $198 165hz ips monitor posted here a few days ago?

    Edit:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/605958

    I guess it’s a smaller display

    • +3

      Also 1080p vs 1440p.

    • I wouldn't choose this monitor period, the Dell others linked is the same thing but significantly cheaper, and slightly better in every way. Unless you really want to use it for PS5 in which case you'd probably be better off with a 4k monitor instead anuway
