  • 2.2 once you have held and paid for your Eligible Policy for a continuous period of 2 months, you will not be required to pay any premiums for your policy for 6 weeks.

What if you elect to pay yearly? The terms don't cover this scenario.

  • Excludes covers with decent inclusions.
    No deal!

Combank is offering to pay extra cash in account with same insurer on top of the 8 weeks benefit.

It is the same thing. To get the cash back, you need to get to Platinum status under Aia vitality, and achieve the weekly health target. They are the same products offered by the same company.

there is $500 -$750 excess fees. What's the point getting health insurance. If you go to specialist , you pay around $300. Why would I pay $500-$750 excess fee to get $300 back

    • +2

Because you can save money on Australia's stupid and complicated tax system and wrought by insurance companies with politicians in their hand forcing making it uneconomical for you not to have worthless insurance 🤔.

  • Need to update the title…

1.2 You purchase an AIA Health with AIA Vitality policy (excluding Gold Hospital or Combined Gold Hospital and Extras) that commences between 1 February and 31 March 2021 (each, an Eligible Policy).

2.3 once you have held and paid for your Eligible Policy for a continuous period of 13 months, and you hold AIA Vitality Silver Status or above during your 13th month, you will not be required to pay any premiums for your policy for 2 weeks.

So you need to get both Health insurance policy AND AIA Vitality. Having said that I would be happy with just getting both since Vitality gives you so many benefits that far outweigh the incremental costs.

    • AIA vitality is included with the policy

I tried to get a quote from them to compare Gold with pregnancy polices but they don't offer Gold in VIC.

They try to bundle the Vitality stuff which is just a data miner that gives you some rewards in exchange for your health data. If you are concerned about privacy at all (or price), stay away from this mob.

I compared some of the health insurers for VIC and gold policies and significant variance in price for the same services.
Pays to shop around as the price difference between Gold policies is almost $2000.

  • I might be wrong but if you just want minimum hospital cover for tax purposes then their product is actually quite good at $1060 p.a. because it give you access to AIA vitality for you to claim a bunch of discounts and gift cards

    • +2

it's a few dollars more than other policies I looked at , but you get AIA Vitality (if you can make use of it) and the 6 weeks free makes it the best I can find at the moment. Probably will switch to another once I've used up the free 6 weeks.

    • Their lowest hospital cover has too many exclusion. It almost seems like a junk policy. So, if you do need to claim, you will find that service is not included.

  • Anyone has experience with this company. Their performance is very strange, they are paying more benefits than they receive in premiums, their surplus is -35.6% i.e. they are in deficit. How are they sustainable? Can go belly up anytime. Their management expense ratio (aka overheads) is shocking at 30% whereas industry average is 9.2% and some like Medibank is 8%
