$993 for a xiami phone? Is it really worth that much?

    • +1

It’s only 800 in China, prices are inflated due to demand.
This phone is very similar to the base galaxy s21, got a few things over it like 50watt wirelsss charging

Honestly this won’t be a deal until gearbest and Alixpress start selling them under rrp

      • +20

This is way ahead of the base s21, it's just slightly behind the s21 ultra.

Same 6.8" 120hz screen as the ultra
Similar 108mp main sensor, S21 ultra has newest HM3 108mp sensor

This is a cheaper s21 ultra, not comparable to base s21. Yes it's expensive for a xiaomi, but a budget if you compare specs VS other flagships.

This would easily be priced $1500 if it was from another brand

i'd love to buy this but its not water resistant

          • @Do I NeedThis: It is and it has water resistance measures such as rubber seals put in. It just does not have an official IP rating since it is very expensive to have this certification. Besides, most phone companies' warranty does not protect water damage anyway.

can you find the last years mi10 global for $300?

  • -8

Jesus these Chinese phones are getting expensive?? Almost 1k AUD, just get an iPhone or if you really must have Android- Samsung/Pixel?

    Not to meantion - https://www.androidauthority.com/xiaomi-security-flaw-app-97…

    • +6

Geez lots of brands have had security flaws over the years.

It's a flagship, it's still hundreds cheaper than Samsung S21 line for comparison.

      • -5

Samsung S21 is less than 1K directly from Samsung AU with educational discount.

        • +8

S21 is a disaster and it is much worse than Mi11. Eg. 1080P vs 2K, plastic back vs Victus and so on.

        • +6

It has less battery 4000 mAh as compare to 4600 mAh and also camera is 108MP in Mi11 with wirless charging of 55w and if yu see build quality of Mi 11 and S 21 , there is big difference instead of cheap plastic Mi 11 has glass back

@agam2104: Good luck getting any support from giztop if your device has any issues. You’ll have a lovely 1k paper weight. Wouldn’t you much rather have physical stores like Apple and Samsung and 24th months warranty? Might as well chuck 1k down at the casino.

        • dstar012: Oh yeah looks like same specs to me for the Samsung: https://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=10626&idPhone2=…

Any updates since that article was published 2 years ago?

      • +1

typical troll about Xiaomi, the OP was.

  • +3

Not worth, wait for K40 if you really want SD888

    • can't sideload Google apps in MIUI 12.5 for China-only phones, so might have to wait for Mi 11T or whatever the K40 is called globally.

      • +1

Won't touch china version, doesn't support all australia bands, I had terrible expirience before.

        • Exactly. K40 won't be called K40 when it's released globally, never is.

  • -6

    yea nah.
still rather fork out on an Samsung or evel LG than buy this

  • +2

Maybe next time. I just bought a mate 40.

    • +1

How do you go without google?

      • +4

i am a gcp developer and tired of using g…

        • +1

Thanks, probably not for me then! I am not a developer and useless on phones :D

          • +1

@XCelR8: in fact, only apps depending on the safetynet certificate can never run on huawei, and others, like youtube, gmail and most banking apps, could run on sandbox apps with google play service or virtual machines.

    • Lol rekt

    • Where did you get the Mate 40 Pro and for how much mate? Been looking to get one.

      • i bought mine on aliexpress. It is mate 40 not a pro, for about 1.4k. pro should be about 1.5k I think.

    • Is it worth it? I'm looking to buy one I just don't know how I will go without the Google services?
      I'm willing to try tho.
Where did you get it from and how much?

      • -1

It is Global Version it has all google services

  • After letting go OnePlus 7 pro with terrible network issues, I won't go with any other OnePlus, Oppo or Xiaomi mobiles in future. And with this price, certainly not…

    • +3

simply because you bought Chinese variant instead of World variant.

      • It was imported from US. Is that a Chinese variant?

        • +1

Yes, also do you expect these flagships to be cheaper? So you basically think Samsung is making their phone for $400 and selling it for $2000?

    • +1

      Love my OnePlus 7 pro.

      • I'm too a fanboy of OnePlus. Had OnePlus 1, then 3, then 7 pro. Recently went with Xperia 1 ii, and realised that there is a network problem with 7 pro, while Xperia is having no issues with mobile network. Been with nearly 2 years with OnePlus 7 pro and was blaming the mobile network company for the bad network.

At this price, I will get the s21 at 949 from education store

    • +2

Yes, because it's always a good idea to buy a subpar device when you can buy a much better device at the same price.

      • -2

        Mi 11:

        Camera not quite flagship-grade
        MIUI 12 not for everyone
        No IP rating
No expandable storage (same as S21)
        No software update promise

        • The camera is much better than a S21.

I have a mi mix from 2016 and it is still getting updates every few months.

        • What makes you think this camera is not flagship grade…?

  • +1

At this price and no telephoto.
I've seen the 60x digital zoom and it's average.
I'd be waiting for something else with local warranty.
    Honestly I just want S20 fe 5g with 8gb ram….

    • +2

Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra will have 120x digital zoom.

      • Who needs GME when you have Mi 11 pro and Ultra.

120x zoom - to the Moon!

  • Decent specs but that screen is (profanity). How on earth would they not have the corners line up with the edge of the phone? Looks cheap af.

    • they do line up to the edge. it just looks like that in the image. the screen slightly wraps around the top and side of the phone, giving it that appearance. In person it looks great.

      • No it doesn't, they (profanity) up big time.

    • +1

It does not say it is global or CN version also it is AUD940.34

  • Never bought a global version phone. Can I just ask a dumb question? What warranty options do you have should device become faulty

  • Need the mi 11 pro or mi 11 ultra
    Crazy specs
