  • OOS

  • The toothbrushes itself dies within a few years and I can’t change them batteries. Anyone has a better electric toothbrush recommendation?

    • +3

      I've had mine for years.

If you find the battery is dying, you need to drain it completely before recharging it for a full day. This in most cases will recondition the battery.

The original battery is pretty crappy but can be easily replaced with an eneloop or similar (have done this).

      • I’m on my second one now and it starts to only last barely one toothbrush session.

Please let me know how to change it to eneloop.

        • +1

          Google it.

You just use pliers to twist off the top, then the whole thing slides out of the handle

Desolder a couple of tabs and remove the battery and solder in an eneloop.

I've only swapped one out.of 4 of them, the rest are doing fine

    • I bought an Oral B in Spain that takes AA batteries. Great to take travelling overseas.

    • +2

My last Oral-B lasted me 8 years with no special care.

    • I'm guessing you have one of the lower models with a NiMH battery (Vitality or 3-digit models like Pro 100, 500 or 700). They're not good batteries. Next time get a single-digit or 4-digit model (Pro 2 2000, Pro 3000, Smart 4000, etc.) as they have Li-ion batteries which should last for many years.

    • If you buy a new one go for the Pro 2 version using Lithium batteries. Supposedly last a lot longer.

If it's been less than 2 years, do a warranty claim. I've done that before. Not that the replacement was much better…

They brush very well, only reason to stay with the brand really.

  • Sold out already? :/

  • can't add to cart as well

  • Same, no S&S, can't add

Are these much better than the generic ones Amazon sells?

    • Ooh. Didn't know this was a thing. I'm interested to hear the answer.

      • +1

Unsure about generic Amazon ones but I've bought fakes from ebay before. The fakes fall apart (bristles fall out) after you start using them for a couple of weeks. This was years ago so maybe generics are better quality these days.

        • +1

Brush ends on the fake ones may also be harsher, damaging your enamel. For a few dollars saving, I wouldn't risk it.

  • Couldn't see S&S, but got a single pack for $16.95. Thanks.

    • +1

Well done, you might have got one of the last ones. There have been about 1,300 click throughs already so unfortunately looks like they are sold out, though some stock may be released occasionally and possibly as preorder until that sells out too.

  • +1

DAMN already gone… Been scouring for a deal like this for some time. Looks like the head I've got is gonna have to get flattened out a little more lol

    • The dental bill might be bit more than the money saved on an ineffective brush head

      • It isn't that bad

  • I used to buy the generic ones from eBay/Aliexpress, they seem to work ok. Is there a reason why I shouldn't get those ones?

    • +1

I guess if you're happy with the results why not use them. Needless to say they only cost cents to make no matter what brand you're buying.

I tried some cheap ones once and the bristles started to come out soon after first use.

  • Out of stock after 1 hour of posting….

    • +1

      More like 15mins after posting.

  • Wish genuine Sonicare refills went this cheap. They are so expensive literally everywhere.

  • Out of stock so quickly

  • Would it still be worth getting the pack of 6 for 25.95?

    • last week woolies had 5 pack for $20 ($4 each) for comparison

  • Can anyone recommend a decent electric toothbrush in the $100 range. I was willing to pay a bit more something like a DiamondClean but all the reviews and comments here seem to be average.

    • +1

Oral b 2 2900 is a good budget option. Has the 3d ultrasonic vibration thing and lithium batteries. IMO this is where diminishing returns kick in. More expensive models just have more modes, accessories or Bluetooth. If you just want full blast or sensitive modes, then there's really no benefit in spending more.

      • Thanks. I'll check it out

  • These are nothing compared to the cross-action brushes.
