      • Strange question. There are plenty of other stores who sell plenty of other products for me to choose from.

  • +1

So pre-orders are not guaranteed? Don’t they have inventory control?

    • I hope so just been burnt before by Target though not JB

  • Did anyone receive a confirmation email from jb hi-fi after making an order?

    • Got a confirmation email a few minutes ago.

    • i did. confirmation for my click and collect from my local store

    • Yep got one almost straight away

I have one and the only drawback is lack of a stand. Because it's a stunning alarm clock. It's the ultimate game and watch if you liked Game and Watch. The ultimate.
I guess kids would say what's the point… But imagine if someone made the best everversion of your childhood toy. It's that feeling. Quality is fantastic.

    • +1

How long does the battery last if you only use it for display /as a clock?

    • I had one and disagree. This thing was a massive letdown, screen quality is poor, SMB1 port is meh, looks like smeared turds. Only a single G&W game…I mean come on? Just load the entire catalogue. Not really sure what makes it ultimate? The originals are still the best way to play G&W games, though of course it's not cost effective.

Listed it 30mins after opening it, pretty sure 90% of people aren't even opening them.

The single screen ones used to have a little metal kickstand didn't they? Or maybe I am thinking of the cheap Taiwanese knock offs

  • +1

Glut of them in the US from Nintendo over production causing them to crash . That is the reason scalper aren't interest in them and this is alive after 2 hrs :)

  • Yay managed to get one from JB. I almost pulled the trigger on an Amazon sale for approx $100 back in jan

  • thanks OP pre-ordered

I loved these Game n Watch games and had a great collection. Donkey Kong, DK2, oil works, octopus, and many more. BUT no more my sister lent them to an ex boyfriend and that was the end of that! - I just needed to share my pain and no I won’t be getting one. I’m still hurting.

    • Sorry to hear. All the more motivation to start a retro collection!

    • +1

Ah yes, octopus and oil works (wasn't it oil panic?). Great ones to play on the school bus.

    • And did you collect the popeye the sailor man too?

  • Got one. I too have a got a few of the originals -Donkey Kong, Oil Panic, Mario and Luigi.

Looking forward to some couch time with this.

I bought a Retroid Pocket 2 after someone suggested it on another one of these Nintendo posts. It's totally worth the $100. It's a great little handheld and such great value. Definitely recommend looking into it. The hardest part was choosing which colour to get!

If its for pure emulation of <16bit, I would just use a cheap psp. I'm getting one for pure nostalgia to go side by side my original Mario Bros game and watch.

      • I've got a PSP too. :) Yeah PSP is a good option, but most under $100 would be pretty poor condition.

3000+ clicks, something tells me this won’t work out for everyone.

Also available at Kogan and Dick Smith

Would rather not support them personally….

There was something special about the classic G&W where you didn't have the choice to play anything else on it, just the game it was loaded with at the factory.

That probably sounds nuts these days.

  • Nice one, thanks OP!

  • Thanks OP!

  • Anyone know where to get a screen protector or case for while playing for this thing?

  • Still don't get why these were so hyped and selling for so much resale. Most likely something you would buy for nostalgia and use one. Better off just buying an old gameboy or switch and playing the old games

      • STFU

        • Wow, stop holding back.

Tell us what you really think..

I loved playing these as a kid in the 80s. Absolutely frustrating my mother game them away to relatives as gifts without saying a word to me. Octopus, Parachute, Turtle Bridge, Green House, so many damn good games I wish I still had. These new systems dont have the same feel. You cant really duplicate the look since the originals had some of the artwork printed on the screen. Also I cant squish the ink like stuff across the screen with my finger.

      ok gramps

      • +1

My point being the emulation of these games are not 1:1. And only a handful of all the titles are available.

      Green House!

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08HB9TCVG/ref=ox_sc_saved…

actually, when i went all the way thru to pay, it came out as $89… but no pre-order required.

    Order Summary
    Items: AUD 65.72
    Shipping & handling: AUD 15.18
    Total before GST: AUD 80.90
Estimated GST to be collected: AUD 8.09
    Payment Total: AUD 89.00

    • Because US Stock.

For collectors wank factor the Australian version with the local rating is more desirable.

    • I can get them cheaper closer to AUD $70 but I bought 1 because a USD $50 AMZ gift card been lying around too long and has to be gone .

    • Interesting. All the ones ive seen on amazon.com recently said they didnt ship to Australia…

  • Awesome stuff. I’ve got some originals:
    * Zelda
    * Squish
    * Bombsweeper (this one is my favourite)
    * Oil Panic
    * Fire

  • Thanks OP! 🙏🏻 Finally!
I went gamesmen too vs JB or EB. Prefer support them than the others if choice. Cool nice little collectible to have 😎 order confirmed / PayPal confirmed so 🤞

Wonder what it will be like in hand vs the original ones from when growing up 🤔 aside full colour screen ofc which the light panel ones sort of did with the mirror

  • Are these any good as an actual alarm clock? Can you plug it in permanently?

  • Thanks OP, been waiting on one for son's bday.

    • Thanks !

Got one for me my son.

Just in time for school holidays.

is it worrying for the scalpers out there that they are still taking orders? What is the last batch unlimited in numbers? These usually sell out in minutes.

    • +1

I doubt anyone is feeling concerned for Scalpers and their hip pockets.

      • Yes but it might be an opportunity to gloat about their lack of profitability

    • +1

Who cares about scalpers? Boo hoo

  • +1

I've got an original Donkey Kong double screen one from the early 80's and a Donkey Kong Jr from 1982. I think I have another 2 tucked away in a drawer somewhere. I'll check the market again in 30 years time - maybe then they will actually be worth something.

    • +1

The market on them has been quite varied. eBay has had some ridic prices that ppl seemed to pay approx 3-4 years ago. i know this as that is when i rediscovered my stash at my folks place.

One of those picker shows (maybe the AU one) seemed to swindle the seller out of their collection offering stuff all with the usual 'we need to make money' pitch even though the quality of them was pretty unreal.

  • Did you guys who preorodered from jb get a confirmation email?

    • Stock isnt avialable until 30th of March

      • Yeah I know that but do you get an email confirmation of order? I didn't get anything confirming of the preorder or the invoice? Cause I've already paid for the preorder, just curious that's all.

        • Usually closer to date

But where did you pre order it from ?

Did you not get an email confirming the pre order ? Or an invoice ?

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: Nah didnt get one. I did it with jb hifi

            • @madturbo123: Thats what i got too, just invoice.

Just have to wait until closer to date as it is subject to availability.

I have seen pre orders cancelled last minute.

    • Yes I got a confirmation email for my click and collect.

  • Is there a way to cancel this? I've already paid in full but I noticed EB games is now taking preorders and I prefer to buy from there since I have so many credits from them.

  • Got notification from jb that it’s been scheduled for pick up with toll. Should arrive next week
