Will the cashback work if I use the giftcards with 2% cashback?

    My prediction…. "Pain!"

  • sorry a bit off topic - i haven't been following the news on shopback but my experience has been reasonable with the cashback tracking. was there some big news that i missed with shopback or something? they seem to be copping so much flack to the point i'm now questioning whether i should be using them.

    • They had some issues with rejected cashbacks which they fixed.

People always seem to complain about things being tracked but personally I've never had an issue. You have to make sure you follow the right steps.

      • They fixed it, but it had to be brought to public attention to get to that stage. Once something is tracked, I don't expect that it would be rejected if I didnt return the item. The transactions were for 5 months ago so most of us would have needed to scroll quote far in.

We aren't idiots, most of us follow all the steps to purchase and even have screenshots or screen recordings (some still get rejected) yet recently I've had to dig them up and send them in.

        • How do you know that?

I lodged a ticket with them but by that time it was already on ozbargain.

Seems pretty silly to suggest that they wouldn't have done anything unless you have a crystal ball.

          • @samfisher5986: I didn't say they wouldn't have done anything, maybe you should read what I said again. I said it needed to be brought to public attention before they fixed it. The transactions were made in November, and they didn't notice that most of their promoted Aliexpress and their Amazon "flash sales" were rejected? That's pretty poor form in itself.

Also having to ensure that you have proof of transaction (which I do regardless) and then having to actually use it over a handful of times in the past few months is also annoying. What happens if users who don't take screenshots etc need to file a claim. There are already Many comments from people saying their transactions were declined even with proof. I've also had an ebay transaction that was declined even with a screenshot but after waiting a month to get that response I cbf even responding for a 1% Cashback.
I also emailed them about their $10 bonus cashback for something in October/November which was tracked and then rejected. Sent through my screenshots and they said "it's been past a month but we will give you a goodwill credit". The wording of that annoyed me since I did the right things but I probably was one of the lucky ones who noticed and got it fixed.

@MeesusEff: You said, "it needed to be brought to public attention before they fixed it"

What does this statement mean if its not implying that they were not going to do something until it was brought to public attention?

I don't know what proof you are coming up with, all I needed was my invoice from Amazon which anyone should have.

I'm not saying if they are good or bad, but its very silly to be making negative assumptions about a company based on false logic.

I know for a fact none of the Amazon stuff was on purpose, its highly likely to be a problem with an automatic system or Amazon, which could be related to their systems not coded very well.

              • @samfisher5986: Oh ffs, I meant that it took for someone to notice and make an Ozbargain post (2 last week) for others to check, before they realised there was an issue to fix it. Stop talking about me assuming stuff when you are literally assuming what I'm saying yourself. How much prior to the forum post did you realise and sent them an email about it anyway?

You can just read the comments from multiple shopback posts in Ozbargain to see there's been problems with tracking, specially with big purchases. I'm on mobile so I cbf finding it for you. I've taken screenshots where their own extension has a pop up saying "congrats your purchase has been tracked you don't need to worry" blabla and it didn't even come up in my transactions. I showed them the screenshot and they still denied me until I responded that it was bloody unacceptable that their OWN extension was saying successful yet they couldn't even track it in my account. The Ebay one rejected even with the invoice time and screenshot.

If it hasn't happened to you yet, good for you. It has happened to many of us and YES we know how to order the proper way, no ad blocks, no clicking anywhere else, no honey extensions etc.

                • @MeesusEff: You specifically said "it needed to be brought to public attention before they fixed it"

Which is a wrong assumption to make.

                  • @samfisher5986: 🙄🙄

Well did they fix it before? No, because most people didn't realise and sent them emails. So no it's not a wrong assumption to make. Stop "assuming" what I'm saying when I'm literally bloody explaining to you when I meant.

                    • @MeesusEff: They didn't really have time to fix it. I had only just recently submitted my application., before I had even seen the ozbargain post.

So nobody knows, so you shouldn't assume.

                      • @samfisher5986: Mate, please. You really think you were the first person to notice and send the email just before the forum post? Gold star to being the most observant person using ShopBack 🤣🙄🙄 you would think that after the whole data breach and masses of people complaining about lost cashback that they would have noticed a whole bunch of mass rejections in their flash sales and quickly fix it up/send out an email saying "we are looking into it" (since it would impact their profit as well). If they DIDN'T notice, thats also another cause for concern so either way it doesn't look good.

And can you stop talking about my assumptions when I'm literally telling you what I meant by my sentence. Pretty f'n annoying and hypocritical that you are talking about my assumptions WHILE assuming yourself what I'm talking about. Ffs.

  • Scrolled back through last 4 months to find 3 missing / incorrectly rejected Cashbacks… Pretty frustrating having to follow up half the orders i make…

  • Where is the rest of the list?

The one where we can check what is 0%?

    • Updated OP with it, thanks!
