  FYI please use a 10 minutes throw away disposable e-mail addy to sign up otherwise you'll be spammed like there's no tomorrow by O&O.

    Yeah, good point… I probably should have mentioned that. Personally, I set up a rule to move it into my "Later" folder as, now and then, they have freebies that I am interested in.

    You'll be lucky if you receive ONE email. O&O Software are a very respectable company.

  I own v3 and v4 of O&O DiskImage and have recommended it to a number of friends/colleagues looking for a "one click" solution. Unfortunately I haven't used Macrium so I can't give a comparison (apart from which anyone with technical skills will always have differing needs/priorities).

  Having said that, I still prefer Acronis TrueImage as my disk imaging software of choice but this is free and that can carry some heavy weight when it comes down to what to use.

  It has scheduled imaging which is what i use ;)

  I also Use Acronis TI (paid) but I will give this a go as well - Can't have enough backup options :)

  Also Free versions of Professional Editions (like this) often have features the free ones don't (requiring paid upgrading to their "professional editions") - just a note when comparing to free software.

    Actually, this is the full-featured program that sold for US$29.95 until v6 came out. The cut-down version is called O&O DiskImage Express.

      Yep, that was my point. Other free alternatives are often cut-downs which you unlock all the features by paying for them.

      Oh, and if anyone thinks Windows, or under-featured backups are not worth it / required - that just means they have never needed a "real" backup. They should consider themselves lucky.

  I just used EaseUS Todo Backup and EaseUS Partition Master on a Dell to overcome issues with imaging a 1.5TB drive and reinstalling the recovery on a 256GB SSD. It worked well. This is a handy alternative as well…and free to :)
