  • Has anyone had luck recently claiming price protection on ebay sales like this?

    • +1

Yes on my 28 Degrees or Coles Mastercard

      • Great, thanks! shall try claim now :)

        • +1

Remembering that 28 Dgrees allows claiming from a different seller than you bought from. Coles MC has to be the same place.

          • +1

@wfdTamar: Yep, bought mine on 28 degrees not long ago!

            • @frogduck: Do you have their subscription service - is it worth it? I know sod all about Go Pros.

              • +1

@wfdTamar: I bought my gopro outright due to the price protection as gopro seems to be the only one that offers the package and then they may reject on grounds its a different product. As for the actual service, I think its okay, but personally wouldn't keep it up after it expires.

  • You can get it for $529.95 here and it says 'with 1 year subscription' to their service. I'm not sure if they mean it comes with the sub included, or you need to buy the sub to get it for that price.

    https://gopro.com/en/au/shop/cameras/hero9-black/CHDHX-901-m…

    (and 2.1% cashrewards there)

Actually pretty sure it means if you buy the sub first you get that price, so not a great deal compared to the OP's post.

Also a word of caution regarding their subscription offer. A lot of people of facebook have complained that their GoPros are late to ship and that they have bad customer service from GoPro directly so probably skip that offer from them directly.

if you wanna go down this path, fyi:

      1. Price is about $460 for the camera which is the first one you pay
      2. Subscription fee will be charged later about 1-2 days but if you cancel the PayPal autopay, and also cancel the subscription immediately after camera purchase then you wont get charged
      3. Total paid $459.xx for the camera + 64GB card + battery…
      • I'm not seeing it for $460 on the GoPro site.

        • +1

its not there on the site… basically when you click checkout, choose to pay by Paypal and in the "Agree and Pay" menu you'll see the amount for the camera only because the subs will be as delayed charge through PayPal's autopay.

          Refer to this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/604945

          • @meong: Did you verify and create the GoPro account, then go in and cancel it? Or was cancelling the PayPal auto payment enough?

I got an email from GoPro saying I can cancel any time, but need to log into the account to do it. Can you confirm that's how you did it?

Bit later - I read all the other thread and before seeing your comments, I had done exactly what you did - cancelled the auto payment authorisation before the camera had been taken off a temporary authorisation. Sounds like it worked that way for you. Geez, what a deal. Now I have to return the Good Guys one coming.

            • +1

@wfdTamar: I did both to be sure… I cancelled PayPal's Autopay (went back to the autopay few times to make sure its not there haha) and verified and logged into my GoPro cloud account and cancelled the subs there.

Basically GoPro new subscription appears as a new account (full featured) that will have the billing lapse in 1-2 days instead of like any other companies that make you pay upfront to even be able to login and use any premium features…

              • @meong: I just got a receipt that included the sub for $0.00 totalling $459.96. Not sure if that means I get it free or just it’ll be charged later (though I’ve cancelled it already). Might be how they account for the cancelling.

                • +1

@wfdTamar: I tried so hard to avoid paying for the subs so in the end i wanted to make sure it was cancelled and no way of them suddenly asking me to pay for it in the future haha

if you read through the comments in that thread, people were getting the same as you showing the GoPro as $0 as well… im not sure what it was supposed to mean… i didnt care about the cloud backup cause uploading them would be quite slow anyway id rather keep locally and upload to youtube for the ones i want to share…

the thing is, even if you paid for the subs, if you cancel it will take effect immediately unlike other services like Netflix where it will cancel at the end of the billing cycle…
