  • Good price, looks like Myer have just about price matched it on their website.

    https://www.myer.com.au/p/lg-ultra-hd-oled-thinq-ai-tv-55-13…

So you could get it cheaper if you have access to very cheap gift cards. I can get 7.5% off Myer gift cards through SunSuper rewards.

When I tried the Myer one it was out of stock everywhere and for delivery. Maybe they updated it now.

      • Ah yep I see that now, couldn't find any stock around my area either for click and collect.

        • Can't even deliver in melb. Insufficient stock.

          • @Hojupeter: Yeah, I guess if someone can find stock at Myer somewhere around the country, this could be a good option.

Got excited and thought it was the 65" price 😥

    Whens the new one out?

  • +9

Interesting to read that the new models coming out this year may release 20% cheaper than the previous model did on release. May be worth holding out.

  • This? Or the samsung 82" deal from earlier?

    • +5

After seeing one of these in person I can confidently say the panel on this will be streaks ahead of the Sammy.

Unless you purely want the biggest tv that'll fit in the room

      • +3

Yes but we are comparing an OLED to a Samsung. I think Samsung is a terrible brand to begin with but the 82" is literally the lowest of the low in their range. No features at all and the panel is dim and not QLED. You need at least a dot matrix panel to compare with OLED.

Having said that I'd go for the size. Looks much better when you have guests over who dont know a thing about tvs.

        • +10

yes, the most important function of a tv is impressing random house guests.

    • This is an odd pair of TVs to be considering between.

Gotta say, I hate how in 1-2 years we went from 65in outgoing models being $2600, to 55in models being the same and $3600 being a 'great price' for the 65in.

Everything is going up when it should be plummeting.

    • With the AUD rising we should see that translate to cheaper prices soon esp if supply picks up out of china

I feel very lucky to get the 65” B8 last stock from David Jones for $1,380. Looking at the prices, it definitely will break the wallet.

      • +2

Not as lucky as you, but got a 55" for $1600 around the same time, was hoping that 65" would be down to or below those prices once this one reaches it's end of life.

        • same here! love the 55.

      • +2

What on earth, that's an insane price!

        • Yeah I know. I reconfirmed the price 10 times and couldn’t believe until it was delivered which was also free from Melbourne.

    • +1

This is purely covid-related demand, and was only an issue in terms of normal pricing cycles as of about June. Assuming retailers making decent order allocations in advance for the second half of the year, you'll be seeing better deals.

Even without that, these models are set to be 10-20% cheaper depending on the panel size.

i remember when 65 inch c9 was under 2k.. i remember it went down to 1700 at one point with some coupons. good ole days

    • +3

Did 65" ever get to sub 2k? I thought they floored around 2.8-3k, and 55" down to sub 2k.

      • +1

2,800 for 65" and 1,800 for 55" for clearout models sounds about right. The 65" deals didn't come up nearly as often as the 55" deals however.

False memories may be a symptom of Alzheimer’s

  • Waiting for the new C1 model out in April.

  • Test your luck instore, I paid $2700 for the GX.

  • I paid about 2700 for a 65 inch C9 a bit over a year ago and the 55 inch option was 1500 so I feel like I'm missing something here. About 1000 more than I'd expect.

possibly demand from new consoles, staying home from COVID and less production due to COVID and silicon shortage.
