Hoover Hurricane Bagless Vacuum @ Godfreys $99 (Save $201)

260

The recent vacuum cleaner posts led me to shop around and I settled on this deal, thought it was decent due to the name brand, 2 year warranty and striking aesthetics in the industrial design. There is also a comparable deal on the bissell powerforce deluxe http://www.godfreys.com.au/bissell-powerforce-deluxe not sure which is better, but I decided on the hoover due to the 2 year warranty (vs 1 year on the Bissell)

Lightweight vacuum which is good for homes with hard floors, also great for dusting, stairs (without carpet), cobwebs on ceilings. The 2 onboard tools fall off the body regularly and are a nuisance. I wouldn't recommend it for carpeted areas because it doesn't have enough suction to clean well.

I found it adequate for carpeted areas if you turn the power all the way up and close the air vent on the stem, and once you flip the switch to get the brush out it glides very well over hardwood/tiled floors. I haven't found the onboard tools to fall off but then again I've only used it once.

        • It probably depends on the sort of carpet you have. $99 is a great deal if it does what you want. I paid $149 for mine in July 10 and it works a treat in my hard floor areas.

I bought mine July 2010 and at the time couldn't find any reviews for it, nor could I find anyone other than Godfreys selling it. I searched everywhere and found absolutely no references to this vacuum, it didn't even exist on the Hoover website, very weird. The Hoover Hurricane that was reviewed at the time was an upright and it got dreadful reviews.

      • thanks guys

Hmm… website says "out of stock". Is this in-store?

  • +2

hmm i think so the website say in store only

  • Much better than the Bogan device. Well worth the extra $.

  • I bought 1 today as well (last piece in Chatswood), might have stock in the later stage. I choose Hoover due to smaller size and 2 years warranty. :)

Hoovers in Australia are completely separate from 'Hoover' International. The Hoover brand name was bought by Godfreys a while back.

As far as I know, it is now Godfrey's House brand. Not sure if they make their own models or not.

smart move by the company. I just assumed Hoover was the same as ever. clever! but i guess lots of companies do this.

ahh that explains the lack of info on the web for this model

    • explains why my hoovers sucked…

  • 2L bin? LOL

  • Just went to Godfreys in Taylors Lakes and the guy actually discouraged me from purchasing it. He insisted that I try it out in store and make a decision. Suction wasn't the best. The compartment for dust is actually approx 1lt, he said. And it was pretty tiny compared to the other vacuum on display. Person said there is a reason why these vacuum wasn't selling at their normal retail price and are at a clearance sale. And I agreed with him. So ended up not getting one and doing my research b4 buying cheapies…

  • I bought one last week and i am very happy with it,very good suction even near full, nice long lead and quite nice to look at but fake big wheels!little ones struggle to go over the power cord!
Can be a bit heavy though to carry up the stairs but i'm happy overall, impulse buy and only the second hoover i've bought in 15 years, long may it last.
