    is it hard to get SSD to boot up via Pi4 -seen some great arcade 1TB images that need to be booted on SSD drive but im a Pi noob and uncertain if complicated.

      Use a small SD card for booting up. I wouldn't use SSD for this. Constant IO will damage the card eventually.

      Quite easy, need to first boot from an SD card to update everything and then change the boot sequence to USB first.

      I just realised I already did all that with a WD Green in an enclosure so not gonna use this SSD for that.

    Evo 860 1TB is ~$100 after Cashback.
    I’m not sure you could remove the internal drive even if you wanted to but it’s definitely not worth it

    T5 uses an mSATA 860 Evo SSD inside.
    I've pulled apart a T5, and now use it's SSD in an 2013 Alienware 14 laptop as the boot drive. Works great.
