How to Get Repair Report for Insurance Claim

I have this ongoing faulty product claim with Amart

I am now getting to a stage where they are blaming me for the damage(how can I remove polish from the seats unless I sand it!) and it appears they don't want to offer remedy.

I decided to lodge claim with credit card insurance but they are saying I am responsible for producing repair report and they won't do any leg work here or contact Amart.

Who can provide this report at an affordable price?

Amart has already refused that they won't send any person to physical sight the issue and it's unlikely I am going to get anything out of them.

I hope someone who went through credit card insurance claim can provide a guidance here.

You said in the other thread
"I will need to approach Fair Trading and ACCC to get them moving"

    • I haven't approached them but I thought that was my last bet to move them.

  • What is a repair report for a table?

      When your database becomes corrupted

        mysql REPAIR TABLE dining_set;

  • You can go to accc or fair trading, but both of them are useless. They will only ask the company to make you an offer and if the company refuses they have no power whatsoever to enforce them. Every Australian business knows this and isn't afraid of the regulators because of that. Fair trading will try to get you to go to the small claims court where the business will send you broke long before you reach an agreement. Good luck.

    • That's shame. I thought ACCC took these complaints seriously as the business is refusing to offer remedy.

The ACCC only deals with systemic issues (such as misleading warranty policies), not individual complaints.

You'll need to make a complaint to Fair Trading. Ultimately, FT don't have the power to enforce, but they can assist with making your case with the merchant, and advising further action (such as small claims - which, won't send you bankrupt!).

      How?

You can enquire with a furniture repairer/someone who does furniture restoration work and see if they are willing to write a report. Ask your credit card insurer whether they will pay for the cost of the quote and what is required in the report: just a repair quote or do they require cause of damage as well.

haha. Good luck finding anyone who is going to repair/restore Amart furniture - "are you drunk/high?!?"

I cannot find where you have actually stated what the damage is?

    • +2

It’s in the link at the top

But, how long did you have the table before you noticed all these defects?

      • +1

The issue appeared on the second day after we got the kids new roller skates.

        • Roller stakes can't sand polish :)

I am having a similar battle with them where the where whole dining set was found faulty. It has chips and faulty polish all over the place.

They are refusing to send their staff to physically sight it and I have literally sent them over 2 dozen pics. There have been back and forth emails with no resolution.

Their customer service is blaming that I did chips as their manufacturer is no way could have done that. What a crook bastard!

I think I will need to approach Fair Trading and ACCC to get them moving.]

Please provide photos of this damage.

Did you place a sheet of 10mm glass over the top of the table to protect the lacquer from hot food items being placed directly on the table top which will melt the lacquer?

  • Tell them you will take them to NCAT or equivalent. I think it’s less than $100 to file.
