    you mean…your first bargrin of 2012 :)

    • -7

nah think he means bargain wazza23

  • this looks very good!but WA only…

    • you say that like it's a bad thing.
Anyway if one agent has access to this then why not all?

  • Great deal!
All these price cuts must mean that iPad 3 is out soon?

  • +1

Wow can't you just sign up and sell the ipad 2 online?

    whats the catch…

    • +11

      whats the catch

Trying to find an enemy to give the Vodafone sim to. :-D

    • Is there a limit to how many you can buy?

      • I will go back to kiosk dude and ask him tomorrow but dont think there is a limit.

        • I'll be there on Thursday anyway so I'll report back with how many I buy :)

  • Anyone find this in sydney?

    • +1

I want this deal in Sydney too. Even if iPad 3 is coming soon. Still a very good deal for this price.

  • I really don't want an iPad.

But hot damn. That's a good price. And it's near me.

    • I was same way, cause now I got to find someone to buy my 32gb iPod touch and Galaxy tab !

    • That's pretty zen.

    • Are you sure?

    • +2

Wait, no, I get it. It won't be out til June… which means it's… in the closet. 'cause it's a gift. And your birthday… is in June. You want one of us to give you this as a present, but you didn't want to sound like you were begging. It all makes sense now.

  • +3

seems like there's a $439 upfront fee attached to the 12 month plan on vodafone's website. i suspect someone will have to end up paying for that.

    • OP just stated that You will not find this deal on the Vodafone website, I have looked

      • -1

yes, I did read that. but looking at the vodafone site and the plan options available. The 12 month plan for this tablet is the same as what is being offered from the kiosk, the only difference is the upfront cost.

        • +1

Better get in before that kiosk realises it.

        • -1

it is even better that there is a upfront fee, so that you can claim the tax back if you depart au in 30 days, right?

    • +1

Yep looks like the kiosk forget to collect $439 upfront. I suspect vodafail will not proceed with the contract?

  • online it costs $92 per month for the same thing (on 12month plan), so saving of $47 per month or $444 all up.

Very good deal! but again unfortunately only WA :(

    • or for the same thing, $55 per month for 12 months with $439 upfront.

  • It does a very good deal.

The thing is, 1.5GB data plan is not enough for normal use of iPad. If it just for mobile phone (browsing using mobile web version instead of dekstop version, few youtube, no big apps) then it's enough.
But for iPad, I normally use almost 500MB to 1GB per day for browsing, downloading apps, youtubing, etc. Good/well known iOS games are usually about 500MB to 1.5GB per app.
If you use WiFi most of the time and use the 3G dataplan just outside house (like i do), then it's gonna be okay ..

    • Agreed. For iPad usage. 1.5GB is not enough

      • +1

yeah I dont think I am going to even bother putting the Vod sim in as dont wont the 1.5gb but you have to buy a data plan to get the offer and that the cheapest.

They told me the ipad comes unlocked and I still got a 8gb plan with my optus galaxy tab for another 6 months.

        • +4

How do you use that much? I find between home/friends homes and work I have wifi coverage 99% of where I use my ipad - otherwise I'm driving my car and not using it. I don't take it with me to do the shopping or anything like that as I have my iPhone for quick lookups on me then.

It's not that I don't use it - I do daily - it's just I don't need 3G I guess. In fact I have stopped the renewing 3G plan on it figuring I can now tethered it to my iPhone as needed as it has 2Gb 3G data I also barley use.

        • You have 99% coverage but others don't

    • +7

500MB to 1 GB per day on an Ipad?? You are in the 0.5% that would. I am what I would classify a heavy daily data user on my Ipad and I have used about 5gb in 6 months, although that's on Telstra 3G and they don't round up the data sessions like other networks do…. but 1GB per day?? That's a lot of You Tubing lol

      • LOL..yeah..but it's not just for youtube.. :)
Mostly for downloading apps and for work purposes (such as remotely access docs in my laptop while I'm at work).

        • iPad & iPhone won't allow you to download large apps over 3G anyway do you can use up much downloads.

        • 1gb of docs? That's still huge. I work on large software architecture diagrams, 90+ pages with many diagrams, file sizes are like 20meg.

Pretty sure you can't do more than 20meg app over 3G like the iPhone.

I consider myself a heavy user and I think 1.5gb on a mobile device is plenty. It's only once you start downloading movies/porn/music on a laptop/desktop that 1.5gb isn't enough.

  • This deal… too good! Need one for Sydney!!!!!

Makes you wonder how much is the cost price….?

    • Yes need one for Sydney

  • well, we usually get some data allowance from mobile provider + 1.5 G for data to be used outside the house. for me, it is enough since i will just stay on wifi when i am home anyways and transfer some movie or music to ipad when i am out for hours.

  • I really think the kiosk guy stuffed up and didn't see the $439 up front cost. No way voda honouring - me thinks kiosk guy may have stuffed himself

    • +1

What may be worse for the OP is that he/she is an existing customer and it wouldnt suprise me if vodafail slap the $439 on their account

      • At least the op has a picture of the promoted deal with the minimum cost.

        • Vodafone always charge a large first account which covers upfront costs etc.

    • yeap

      very likely…

like the $200 off deal etc..with the allphones etc..

  • cant do shipping?

  • +2

This is too good to be true, and I'm sure we'll soon realised it is an error. The total cost is clearly well below what Apple sells the to retailers for. Someone has made an error here.

  • Price match with Voda store in Sydney?

  • I believe DSE is $1 cheaper than your example of JB HIFI!

  • Shivers, I want one.

  • +1

So your contract has the same Minimum Total Cost as mentioned? Sounds good.

  • I reckon this agent purchased them from itprocurement..

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60865

    :-)

  • +4

Looks great but be careful! I work at vodafone, and as you sign up for the 12mth contract the system + the till will at no point ask for the $439 upfront fee. It is up to the salesperson to inform the customer that they'll get hit with it on their first bill.

But you can always cancel the whole contract in the first 30 days with the network guarantee thingo. Hope that helps a few people!

    • +2

I think a lot of people will get a bit of a surprise in late January! And not just the christmas credit card statement.

  • this deal is $439 upfront + 55X12 = total cost $1,099

    http://www.vodafone.com.au/personal/tablets/tablets/iPad-2/i…

I suspect that the agent didnt tell you 439upfront

    • There is no way the seller can then advertise "Minimum Total Cost $660" then, as it it TOTAL Cost.

      • Seller didn't know about the $439 upfront fees. Or they didn't want to put it there in the first place.

  • The op has solid ground to not have to pay the upfront $439 as its not listed on that advertisement.
There is no way they could sting him with it and get away with it.

    • I agree. Also, when there is an upfront fee payable, it is paid to the agent, not to Vodafail. Only monthly handset repayments are on the Vodafail bills.

      • +1

Wrong. The upfront fee is counted as an MPP of 1 installment. Stores no longer take any upfront fees, whether they be iPads or Nokias.

    • Becuase the flyer has terms and conditions apply written on it means anything could be hidden in the fine print. Doesn't even have the Vodafone logo on it

  • This is way better than what they offered me to upgrade when I went through retention team. The best I can bargain down too is $32 per month,iPad2 64GB WiFi+3G + 1.5GB Data for 24 months. This is much better deal if you are in WA.

    • +1

So much hype from Apple like always. I wouldn't be surprised if there just releasing a pink 4S.

      • +2

My god, that's revolutionary! Pink 4S's will change the market landscape of mobiles, of technology, forever. Apple have always been at the forefront of design and ingenuity.

    • The news has some updates:

"the event will not involve any hardware at all and instead will focus on publishing and eBooks"

  • Somebody should try this at another Vodafail kiosk outside WA.
    Anyone??

  • +1

Just called the kiosk, apparrently they've had to stop the sale of iPads at this price for unknown reasons. The guy I spoke to said something about issues with the 'higher ups' but they may be offering it again in a few days :(

    • Yeah - the "higher ups" figured out they were losing money on the "deal" and/or they had made a major mistake with the pricing

  • +1

yeh i just went in there, he wouldn't sell me one. :(

    • Crap! :(

  • So sad that the deal isnt available…

  • +1

Save your time, barganer, dont need to go there, Deal ends!

  • +1

This was a mistake, not a deal. Pity.

  • +1

Aww it's expired. Got me so excited.

  • -1

Deal over but thanks vodafone for offering it whilst it lasted and keep providing deals.

  • -6

So did anyone actually get this deal? 92+ / 0-

    Yet my awesome 2 for 1 iPad has a 10+ / 7-

No-one from either deal has anything :-)

    <removes tongue from cheek>

    • +1

      Corrected for you…

      Yet my blatant 2 for 1 iPad SCAM has a 10+ / 7-

      • 92+ / 0-, 10+ / 7-
        What does it mean?

        • Here's the link to his scam: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60865

          92 +ve votes,0 -ve votes etc..

Fortunately Ozbargain users are semi intelligent… :)

        • How do you know it's a scam? So far things are looking pretty positive..

    • Ah, no sense of humour!

If I end up with my iPads, I want positives on that deal from every person that posted a message about us 'suckers'!

      ;-)

      • I think only one or two people said that.

I had and still have doubts about the operation (and will still have doubts even if yours and other people from that thread's show up). The business looks and operates like a one or two man operation trying to look like a larger one.

  • +12

Just because the deal finished, doesn't mean you need to delete all the info. Its useful to keep expired deals around for reference in the future, IMO.

  • -2

Hmm no info about nothing? Neg from me.

    • Description reverted. Yes, OP should keep the info intact even after the deal has expired — all he needs to do is to hit the "Mark as Expired" link.

However, rather negging this offer, maybe try to "Report" to let the moderators retrieve the older version of the description from the database.

      • Hey scotty

just sent mod a msg about deal.

  • umm so what happened to the deal in the end? did anyone actually get it

edit: just read the mod edit. ooh controversy

  • sigh…so no point going to garden city today….

  • just a heads up, I got my ipad from voda.

    • any news on whether there is an upfront fee? very curious about your situation =D

  • no upfont, my borther was the one who signed up for it and given me the contract.

Any Vodafone sales people out there confirm for me no upfront as per following terms of contract

    contract says:
    Mobile/device iPad2 Wifi + 3G 64GB Black
    Product: $15 MBB 12mths
    Contract period: 12months
MPP total price (inc GST): $480
    MPP Upfront Amount: $0
MPP remaining amount payable (inc GST): $480
    MPP Term: 12
    MPP Monthly Payment: $40
    Payment Mtheod: postpay
    Weblock status: Off

    So I have to pay $40/month for device and $15/month for data for 12 months = $55 x 12 = $660

I was supposed to get 10% off the $15 for adding an extra Voda service but dosent say on contract.

  • So did anyone else ended up getting it except OP?
