My Telstra and Telstra Plus Points

Hi all,

I'm new to My Telstra and Telstra Plus Points. I have seen a couple of offers come up from time to time and wanted to make sure I was maximising the benefit from this program. Any advice on how to best accumulate points and use them would be appreciated.

Cheers

  • Hey Mate,

I port my mobile service off every year for 30+ days then port back into Telstra for the JB HIFI $500 deals. Rinse repeat for both NBN & Mobile service to maximise my points every year.

For NBN orders, I again port out for 30 days then wait for a t.com t-points deal. This method I usually accumulate roughly 20-30k points per order which isn't bad.

    • Hey mate. Do the JB vouchers expire or can you accumulate them for a few years to get your new phone? Thanks.

      • They dont expire - https://support.jbhifi.com.au/hc/en-au/articles/360053719573…

Our gift cards do not expire.

All Gift Cards sold at JB Hi-Fi or at third party locations do not expire.

This excludes Ultimate Kids Gift Cards and Ultimate Teens Gift Cards, which will be subject to the expiry date stated on those cards and can only be redeemed in-store.

    • Thanks for your insights. I can't seem to find info on how the points are accumulated. So from what you are saying is, I'm going to get some points for signing up today and your method of getting points is my resigning up periodically.

      Cheers

      • I dont see any deals at the moment. I wait for Black Friday sales or end of financial year deals

Thanks for sending those through. The bottom one is what I just did.

      • You get points for paying your bill each month. That's the basis of points accumulation. Then you get bonuses for various things like porting in an account etc.

        • Thanks

    • So when you port away your points don't expire since you're no longer with Telstra for that period of time?

Just a quote from the web site:

If you don’t have at least one active service or choose to leave Telstra Plus, your membership will be suspended until you sign up for another service or reactivate your membership. If your membership is suspended for 12 months, your points balance will expire.

        Also

Telstra Plus points will expire three years after the month you earn them. For example, if you earned 1,000 Telstra points in June 2019, you have until June 2022 to spend those points.

On a side note you can just sell your points on ozbargain then transfer to the sellers Telstra account#

        • Thanks that's really helpful info!

I have to say that the Rewards are rubbish. Some of them cost more including your points than simply buying retail. Do your research carefully. If you have points to spend and just want to use them, great. Otherwise, this is a really poor value reward system from what I've seen so far. It probably depends on what you want to use them for.

  • I have two accounts, is there any way I can merge them together without going through support?

    There is this link: https://plus.telstra.com.au/transfer
This seems to work, but not for me as I have two different accounts in different names

  • Whats the cheapest way to have an active service.. they're not letting me redeem unless I have active service..
