Barbeque Galore - Half Price New Years Sale

54

Just saw an ad on TV, Barbeque Galore are having their "Half Price New Years Sale".

Items on sale are:
* Patiomaster 4 "HD" on Cart with Side Burner $349
* Kensington 7 Piece Wicker Setting $499
* Patiomaster 2 Burner with Hood $199
* Patiomaster "M" 4 Burner on cart $349
* Princeton 7 Piece Timber Setting $399
* Weber Q 100 Gas Portable BBQ $289 (isn't that the normal price?)
* Cook-On 4 Burner Stainless Steel Hooded BBQ $299
* eGrill Portable Electric Griller $199

"Offer end Sunday 15/1/12 or while stock lasts"
"participating stores only" - so check the list

Please comment on which of those you consider to be a bargain. Personally I feel that's a great price for the Patiomaster 4 burners as well as the outdoor settings. My inlaws have the Kensington one and it is very nice (they got it very expensively).

Happy bbqing!

    Nothing special in my opinion and just advertising.

    They had the same Patiomaster "M" 4 burner Boxing day 2010 for the same price
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/36808

    These prices were also in effect on Boxing Day, so not exactly a "New Years Sale"

    Like you said, the Weber Q100 is standard RRP so its misleading to include it in a sale and saying "Offer ends xxx". Offer of RRP?
    Besides, Rays Outdoor has a standard 6.5% off most stock for VIP members (free to sign up) and includes Weber BBQs
    http://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/online-store/products/Weber-B…
    https://www.raysoutdoors.com.au/App_Assets/images/template/m…

    Better yet, if you're really after a Weber, DJs have 15% off all BBQs (they stock Weber)
    http://www.davidjones.com.au/images/PDFs/clearance-press-ad
    15% off Webers might not sound like much, but the general consensus is that Weber is the Apple of the BBQ world.

    On a non-bargain note,
    I was on the lookout for a Weber Charcoal BBQ on Boxing Day and went into Barbecues Galore Chadstone to ask for a price match. They were quite rude, unprofessional and made it out as though I was making the David Jones offer up. They tried calling to verify, but seriously, it was Boxing Day and the discount of $19 wasn't worth me waiting around or putting up with their arrogant attitude. I walked into Rays Outdoors and simply told them about the DJ offer. The lady said it was fine and price matched. No hassles and she looked happy to price match for me. Needless to say, I know where I'm going for future accessories and charcoal!

    Appreciate the effort none the less of posting this up.

      Ya when dealing with chains like this it's hard to say what is a bargain without remembering what prior prices were (like the JB markup before sales). I'm pretty sure that's a good price for the outdoor settings though.

      Regarding the Patiomaster, the fact that they were priced the same 2 years ago, don't mean much, BBQ tend to stay at the same price as long as the model is not phased out. The question now is how good are those BBQ? I bought a Beef Master from them 2 months ago for $499 (RRP, yes, take my OZB badge away!) - its a great barbi. If the Patiomaster is similar in quality, than I believe that is a great price.

      Personally I don't mind a neg at all, just expressing my opinion (thanks for yours!).

  • Where was the 25% off sale for 2011?

    This sale at the moment is rubbish. They're just getting rid of junk stock!!

  • nothing special about this. And cant compare prices on 'exclusive' products.

    • +1

      why is this not special - i did not know about this and i want to buy a cheap bbq - this is a great deal for me to know about … unless ther is something else i sould know about these bbq's…(given that i want a cheap one)

      why cant you compare - you could take a $399 bbq from elsewhere and compare the quality to one of these?

      by all means state your opinion… we value it… just consider your vote a little more carefully (joequimby has raised some concerns.. no need to neg if yours are the same)

  • I am after a weberQ100 but one with a high lid and thermometer. They only seem to sell them at certain stores that never discount.

    • I just got a Q100e (includes electronic ignition and thermometer). You have to go to a specialist dealer to get them. It was only $10 more over the standard Q100, no brainer! Don't bother waiting for Weber Q to go on sale, never happens. They're always excluded from store sales. Comparitively they really aren't expensive though and first rate quality, more efficient, easier to clean, most even cooking BBQ on the market.

  • I like how they sneak in two items (Weber, Cook-On) at full price in the listing of the "discounted" items.

    It's a sale of fail

  • Before I went to DJs to order the Weber, I tried to get a price match at BBQ Galore as well. They told me that the DJ's offer is only for card members only, because it was not open to public, they cannot price match. I thought it as a load of rubbish.

    I called up Barbeques Plus Port Melbourne ( different chain) , they were nice enough to upsell me the Specialist model, Weber 220, one with a higher lid and thermo stuck to it. that way they didn't have to price match DJs.

    Negative for BBQ galore on this deal

  • how would the patiomaster M (or HD) compare to a jumbuck bbq from bunnings? is it pretty much neither here nor there, or would one be significantly better than the other?

    (NB: it's for a gift, with set budget, and they want a gas bbq)

    • I used to have a jumbuck 4 burner and it was awful. seriously if anyone in WA wants one for free, pm me! It gets way too hot even on the lowest settings, and most food would be either under cooked or burned. That was a non lid cover model though.
      The patiomaster looked pretty good in store and was selling for about 700. I don't have any experience with it, but I'd bet it's x10 better than the jumbuck ones. The lid makes a big difference too!

      • sorry, should have specified that i am looking at the Jumbuck Voyager models. 4 burner jumbuck voyager is the same price as the patiomaster M, and the 6 burner is a bit more.

        while the RRP on the paiomaster is $700, i don't believe it. from my understanding of barbeques galore, their "sale" prices are closer to the true value (comparable to bbqs at a similar price).

        hence why i'm thinking the patiomaster M, while having an rrp twice the price, is likely to be similar in quality to a jumbuck voyager for the same (sale) price.

        that's what i figure anyway…

        • their "sale" prices are closer to the true value

          I'm not so sure about that…
          2 months ago I got a beefmaster 4 burner for RRP ($499) and it is great, extremely happy with it. (btw the sales guys did say it is the best one they have for around that price. I was sceptical as it is a BBQ Galore brand, and thought they had some incentive. However a quick google showed me that many people love that barbi so I went for it)

          Anyway it's hard to say which one between the two I would choose. I've had a really bad experience with the Jumbuck (even if it was just the $100 4 burner)and will never touch a product of theirs again.

          FWIW ProductReview seem to have some mild reviews about both of them so they seem similar:
          http://www.productreview.com.au/p/jumbuck-4-burner-voyager-h…
          http://www.productreview.com.au/p/patiomaster-m-4-burner.htm…

          Personally I would go with the one with the higher RRP, given how they seem pretty equal.

          Have you gone to Bunnings/BBQ Galore to check them out for yourself? you might be surprised how one might look heaps better to you after you see it in person (granted it won't tell you how good they cook).

        • +1

          Yeah from the looks of it, I think your beefmaster is a step up in quality from those two. If it was for me, I'd probably get that!

          That's the thing tho: the patiomaster ones are often on sale at that price, whereas the beefmaster is always a step up in price (from the patiomaster sale price). So it is the "what you can get it for"/sale price that seems to be the real indicator of quality: patiomaster often on sale for $350-400, beefmaster $450-500.

          And as you said the reviews on product reviews suggest that too.

          But yeah, cheers for your comments, I definitely have to go in and have a look at the two models in person.

        • No worries, let us know what were you conclusions, I'm curious.

  • For people in SA I saw a Banner Hardware catalogue yesterday which had 20 or 25% off all bbq's except only 10% off Weber brand. Unfortunately they're website is still in the dark ages so you can't see what actual bbq's they stock or price.

    For locations: http://www.bannerhardware.com.au/store-locations-1

  • Anyone know of any shipping services that will deliver from Canada? How much to deliver from Canada? Weber Q 100 only $179 there… that converts to in $171.
    http://www.homedepot.ca/product/weber-q-100-portable-gas-bar…

    Or maybe print out the page and try and price match locally and hope you get some dumb kid who doesn't check where it's from.

    • It's a pretty bulky / heavy box… wouldn't like your chances making it worth your while. And if the 'dumb kid' spots your Canadian price match(likely), who then looks the dumb one?

  • Does anyone have Patiomaster 2 Burner with Hood? I am thinking to get one but not too sure about the quality.

    • Best to go and check it yourself in store.

  • +1

    Geez, not many bbqs are on sale. And hardly any for 50% off.

    • Yeah, its a scam of a sale!

    • -1

      Nobody said its a bbq sale… and FWIW there is 50% off (RRP) on 2 (identical) bbq and 2 outdoor settings.

      :-p

  • No 50% of discount. Misleading advertising.

    • -1

      how so? see my comment above.

      It might not be a very good sale, but they do sell some stuff for 50%. Whether it is a good price or not is a different matter.

  • Went in to the shop in the hope of getting a deal On the 4 burner beefmaster… At 599 the guys would not budge … In his view there was no room to move grrh

    • They're pretty scummy with their prices.

    • Was that for the stainless steel one? I got the other (black) one for $499 (no side burner)

      • It was the black one with no side burner.
        I went to the shop on napean hwy in Melbourne

        • I wonder if I send you my receipt might that help?
