How do these compare to the latest Sony and Bose offerings?

  • How is the BeyerDynamic Lagoon ANC Traveller Bluetooth Headphones sound quality compare to
    Sony WH-1000XM4 vs
    Bose 700 or
Bose QuietComfort 35 (Series II) ?
I never heard of this brand but the normal RRP is more expensive than Sony or Bose.

    • I don't own this headset, but do own/ have owned a few wired headsets from Beyerdynamic. They make real good quality stuff and are well respected in the audiophile community.

  • Quoting $599 as the standard price on these is a bit of a porky,

    • /shrug
Still seems good. Cheapest otherwise I see this for is $369.

  • Just saw it on Amazon for $394.05 (Free Shipping with Prime):-

Make sure you try these before buying. The cups are small and shallow on these, along with quite a high clamping force, these weren't comfortable. It got sweaty and uncomfortable after 15mins. Had to sell mine. Originally got it from mwave for $252 last Nov

    • Sound is way better than the XM4's, more balanced, less boomy/slow
    • Passive isolation is good, ANC not as strong as XM4 but was more than enough for sydney trains/bus rides
    • Beyer house sound(as expected): the treble is quite strong on these. Not sibilant like their open headphones, but still there.
    • App didn't have a graphical eq, only a preset that the app makes after you do a listening test. Pretty useless if you want to target a specific frequency.
    • build quality felt solid, but the band creaks. Super annoying
    • multiple pairing. Easily changes between 2 devices, play on device one and the other will pause…vice versa

If you don't need ANC try the AKG 371. By far the best budget closed headphones imo.
If you need bluetooth and mic then get an es100/Btr3 with the K371.
Even after owning the T1 for a decade, I still prefer the Harman tuning of the 371 vs these, they really nailed that headphone considering its frequently on sale under $200 on amazon.

      Thanks, that's really helpful.

  • One of the very few ANC headphones with APTX-LL codec

    • Why is that useful?

Mainly for gaming. Bluetooth latency is really noticeable when playing games, especially first person shooters. Aptx low latency codec is perfect for gaming.
