Does it take up a lot of room on your desk?
These are targetted for more of a bigger room/TV setup rather than near field which I think would be more suited by the S2000mk3. A few complaints about static noise.
Interesting.. I don't have any issues with static (as opposed to my older Aktimates and I'm feeding the same source). I also have mine on some foam and they sit close to my ear level when I'm sitting down.

Yeah, they're quite big so do take up a bit of space. Most of my desk space is gone with these and a 34in ultrawide (I have the 186 x 63.5cm Karlby top).

250 Watt RMS? Has anyone put an amp with serious power to them?
double amp? You mean increasing the input signal that goes into the dac? Wouldn't it negate anyway?

They thump, I've taken them to a few parties (<40ppl) and there's ample headroom

Not a fan of that business model so not looking to reward them but also want these speakers at this price.
Also looking to avoid using vouchers etc…You aren't rewarding them, you are using them for a benefit. They are just hoping you won't be able to pay it back in time.

They really work best on their stands, filled with sand. Find your own sand. Cheapest I can find now is $149 + delivery from Dick Smith.
There are quite a few clones for around $75-100 on ebay. They are still very good quality and take sand also

Speakers will generally perform better when at ear level, that and the surface it’s on can impact on vabrations in the box, so having it dampened can make it cleaner.
Weight, and also metal speaker stands are usually hollow and can lead to some ringing or unwanted noises induced by vibrations from the speaker. Filling it with sand reduces that.
To add mass, to damp resonances , to reduce vibration.
Has anyone watched the Znyder cut of Justice League with these speakers? I’m getting terrible distortion during the opening sequence with these speakers (on all EQ modes, across all volume ranges).
Across all volume? Is it meant to be there? Have you turned up the gain on the speaker before touching volume? Try turning gain down also. I haven’t tried that movie. Tried a few others and no issues. Although only got them today
