Will this tell me if it's raining outside?

more like how heavy is raining and how much did it rain while you slept.

      Google weather will

      • Weather services don't give accurate local weather updates. Closest BOM rain gauge/ Anemometer to my house is more than a 4kms away.

I have one of this and really like it, price is good!

Thing is that it does not have the display console. So you have to look up the conditions on your phone/tablet/pc. With my current station, I find it so much easier to have a glance at the console as I pass by. HP2551 is this GW1001 model with console at $223.99. A ridiculous premium just for a screen & a separate indoor sensor.
I want to replace mine with the instruments of the GW1002 but a console. Unfortunately Fine Offset, who I believe manufactures all these weather stations, does not have such a model.

How about getting a really lousy Android tablet and use it as your console with the mobile app?

I want the minimalist anemometer & vane format of the GW1002 with the rain bucket separate. Especially that rain bucket which is the same size as the loose one & is quite large compared to the all in one models. Well thats my experience when I briefly had the wiz bang HP 2553 which has the same separate rain collector.
I want to mount the station higher up in the air. Therefore want to minimise drag in high winds & be able to use a thinner pole which would put less pressure on the mounting spot.

I went with the HP2553, but have now outgrown its 8 soil sensors and 8 temp sensors limit. Therefore, I'm also running a GW1000 to pick up the extra sensors and feed everything into InfluxDB on my NAS with a Grafana dashboard running on an old tablet.

all these model numbers confuse me
