3 month warranty on a used laptop from 2014

    Yikes.

  • +5

who the heck wants to pay that much for a laptop with DDR3?

  • Would be great if really refurbished, which would mean a new battery!

    16gb DDR3 beats 8gb ddr4!

    • +2

Not with an ancient dual core it doesn't

  • Expensive door stopper.

Honestly, this is a terrible deal.

It's a 2014 laptop, and the CPU performance is less than 1/3 of a current gen ultrabook i5. Performs to the level of a Core M3 CPU.

16GB of ram is decent but it's probably very slow and cheap 1066Mhz given that the RAM speeds aren't specified.

240GB SSD is good but that's an easy $40 upgrade to any used laptop.

The laptop chassis looks pretty trash, not surprising it's a 2014 laptop.

Display Specs aren't stated meaning it's definitely not 1080p, it's probably a shitty 768p display.

    Only 3 months warranty.

Definitely not worth $479. It's a rip off.

You can find better deals at this price range that are brand new.

    That's a pretty big price increase going from 8GB ($409) to 16GB RAM ($479).

$120~$150 more and you could buy a slightly older, but much more powerful Ryzen 3450u laptop with full warranty and battery that isn't aged

example Inspiron 15 3505 $599 when they go on sale via Dell eBay, they also have FHD displays.

not worth it even @ $300 - as per other comments, throw in another $100-200 and get a new entry level machine that will beat this to dust in most/all aspects :)

    • -2

In which aspect the cheapest new DELL Inspiron 3505 Laptop with AMD Athlon Silver 3050U + 8Gb RAM for $579 can beat this HP? In Power Consumption probably.

Better screen, faster CPU, better GPU, far better battery life ( A 7 year old laptop battery is absolutely fried), 2 year warranty vs 3 months, not scratched / dented / jizzed on..

        • -4

Better screen? Have to put them side by side to prove that.
Faster CPU? No, it's not faster, it's actually slower.
GPU? Who cares, in the entry level laptop?
Battery? Yes, valid point. Although I know lots of users who never take their laptops from their desks.

I'd agree that $479 is not a bargain, but for $350 it's well worth it. Especially for people who aren't seeking for mobility in their computers.

          • @vovka: Mate this is 1366x768 stretched to 15.6. You don't need to see it to know it'll look like crap.

I'd agree that $479 is not a bargain, but for $350 it's well worth it.
            ..but it's not $350 lol

        • +1

not scratched / dented /jizzed on..

          πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

          dead ☠️

  • As others have said above. Plus 1366 x 768 on a 15.6" screen. 10/100 NIC. Wireless would likely be N only. This is completely overpriced.

That's a big yikes at that price. There are some good return deals out there, but not at this price/age.

I feel this is just trying to rip off people who don't know much about computers besides "i7 and 16GB ram is fast"
