I understand budgets exist; but you really have to be strapped for cash to save the $75 on this (the white model) compared to a dji action.

Hmm this or the DJI Osmo Action 4K (if not having 4k isn't a deal breaker)..

    • +14

      100x the osmo.

Footage is always an opinion; but I prefer the audio and the colour from a dji.
Also the stabilisation is better; but does crop more.

Also, replaceable lens cover, removable battery, less overheating (if you do use 4k).

If you're not short $75; the dji for sure.
If money is super tight and you need a cam; both are "good".

Thank you - helps hugely. ta.

Plus on the sound. I used it on my motorcycle, and compared it to a gopro hero 9.

Same mounting position, same time of day, different days.

Got a more richer sound for the engine exhaust and surrounding. The gopro seems to record all, which makes the exhaust sound a little muffled.

        • Sorry to hijack this a little. But I jumped in and bit the bullet and got the Osmo last night. I'm a little lost with the million accessories you can get. Are there any you think are essentials. My main use for this will just be for taking on holidays (e.g going to Nth Qld in a couple weeks)… eventually would like to take it snowboarding but that'll be a few years off till my kids are big enough to go to ski-wee classes. TIA!

@ham0718: If you intend to do night shots; a cheap gimbal.

Even 2 axis is fine; smoothX, vimble2, isteady PRO, etc.

The stabilisation is amazing on these cameras, but the same technology is what makes lights "trail" at night.

If you can clamp it in a cheap gimbal, its easier to hold (despite bigger) and 75% of the light trails will be gone.

@MasterScythe: I was about to suggest ND filters as well, so you can increase ISO and balances to counter the added darkness.

Also a shorty works wonders, as a stick and a tripod for taking a longer exposed shot

@sh4hp: Funny enough, but unless the person is a camera nerd, ive seen ND filters cause way more issues (from lack of understanding) than help, in the general public.

A gimbal is just fit, and go. Even if you forget to ninja-walk, it wont be any worse than no gimbal.

But if you forget the right ND filter, or forget you have one fitted, it can leave you with a useless camera.

My 2c anyway; i agree they're useful as hell! But not for the novice.

@MasterScythe: Agreed. It does take some getting used to, but it makes that much difference in brightness control that the 30 minutes youtube video is worth the effort.

Anyway, the camera by itself is great already. Can't recommend the app though, aside from using it for software updates.

I've had this model for a couple of years and my honest review is I wouldn't recommend. It crashes so often and messes up linking with the app.
You can capture some good footage but also can capture some really grainy stuff.
The battery on it is stink too.

No idea why you’d buy this instead of the OSMO Action. It will be worth the extra few dollars.
